Pictures? I'll have to con the wife into taking some...she usually doesn't let me touch anything expensive that I can't repair!

thanks for the hellos! I am trying to make a decision and maybe you guys can help, I am taking delivery of the VFR tomorrow, and I am now having second thoughts. The bike is a 2000, has 21k miles and has a salvage title. I paid 2k for the bike, on ly damage seems to be some road rash on the right side, not bad at all. I have ridden the bike and it shifts flawlessly, but seems to run a bit hot, 214-220 at about 45 mph. I don't want to buy a bike that isn't worth it, and or is going to give me problems. BTW it was about 95 degrees here in Albuquerque yesterday. Thanks for any help you can give me...

That's cold for a VFR, it is running fine. Buy it, you won't be disappointed. I got some "engine ice" for mine, putting it in this weekend, but I have been running 220-240 during the 90+ days here in NY.

For all the new 5th Gen owners:

    1) Get a Sargent World Sport Seat. You simply WILL NOT find a better aftermarket upgrade. Once you ride on one, you'll want to send hate mail to Honda for putting the stock POS seat on the bike.

    2) Get a pipe with a K & N air filter. This will do pretty much nothing for performance. The sound will move your soul & make the hair on your neck stand up. If you want to know what kind of pipe to get, the answer is one word & one word only: STAINTUNE.

    3) If you have sport touring tires on the bike, dump them yesterday. I 1000% guarantee you will not believe it's the same bike once you fit proper shoes on it. I like Pirelli's the best but you can get a set of Bridgestone BT-016's for much cheaper & they are almost as good. If you have Dunlop D220's or D204K's, you just don't know what you're missing. If you insist on sticking with sport touring tires, the Continental Road Attack & Pirelli Angel are your best choices.

    4) That's about all you need to get the most out of the bike.

    KC-10 FE out...

Hey KC, since you are so shy and unopinionated, LOL. What are your thoughts on the BT-021 tires? Supposed to be a good aggressive tire but still sport touring. I just picked up a pair but they are still in the plastic, should i swap out for those BT-016's??

Welcome to all 3 of you new owners. You will find that this place is a wealth of knowledge. Stay safe.

captmarc, good luck on the new youngin. I have found that my kids are the best toys that I have and I try to play with them often (8 yo girl, 3 yo boy).

I always feel blessed to live like 30 mins from Vt and N.H. here in western Ma. You guys near larger cities tend to have ride some to get to twisties, don't u? Whatever, at least you're riding somewhere. Congrats on new ride. I'll be picking up my 04 on Thurs. Anyone else come from a large cruiser to VFR? I'll be shedding something like 325 lbs when I get the vfer. Cool site BTW. Phil
