Hello to all in the 5th gen I finally got a vfr800 and it is oh so sweet. I've been on my vf1000r for almost 2yrs and the weight and size just finally got old. Don't get me wrong I still love the bike but lets face it, its out dated and doesn't realy stop well. Since I live in a stop and go area thats a pretty big deal and I just the the way this vfr stops. So I picked up a 1998 vfr800 with 35,000 miles for 1700 dollars. It came with a few extras like a sargent seat, remus slip on, extra touring windshield, heated grinps, and a few extras. But it has a black front rim and a polished rear. Was wondering if anybody had a extra black rim for the back they might be able to part with, must be strait. Also could use some help locating a few items like body pins or quick clips or what ever there called. I also need a hook up for the vfr decal it was laid donw a low speed and the right sides needs to be repainted. Also I'm 6'2" and although the bike is comfertable I don't know if any one had a way to make it fit a taller rider with out draining my pocket book. Like everyone else moneys tight. Oh one more thing does any one know about the mod for the airbox I heard you could do something to the snorkle or something to help it breath better. Well this post is long enough so in closing I LOVE MY HONDA'S, and FUEL INJECTION.

Welcome aboard! I just got a 2000 VFR800, absolutely head over heels in LOVE with it. Don't know the answer to any of your questions unfortunately, but someone will chime in soon enough, I think everyone here is out riding! Stay safe :)

Hey, welcome to the madness. Just a question, do you really need the heated grips in Florida? Just kidding. As far as the decals, I went here: Extreme Decals. They were pretty good and fast too. They handmake all decals to the colors that you want, if you wanted something other than stock. For taller, if you mean sitting up straighter, you could get a set of Gen-Mar risers or Heli-Bars that way you're not leaning over so far. Don't know about the rim, I'm sure someone has it. Or have you checked a motorcycle salvage yard/company in your area? They may have on for cheap. That's about it. Nice find on the bike. Post up some pics when you get the chance.

    Hi tloukonen
I'm new to the VFR world website, though I have owned my fifth generation VFR 800 since new in
1999. If you have problems finding a good rear wheel for a reasonable price have you thought of seeing how much a powder coater would charge to powder coat the rim for you? I do know from first hand experience that they charge a batch charge usually. So if you have any other bike parts that you would like black you could bring them and usually its a minimum charge for the lot. The thing that I did with my wheels is get a pinstrip kit off ebay so the wheels and tires didn't look so black. I chose red and it really sets off the wheels nicely. Plus the kit wasn't that expensive

Thanks for the decal sight AFPEIRCE I get ahold of them. And I found a guy in my area to powder coat the rim for 100 dollars think I'll just go that route. I looked into the handle bars but after riding the bike for about a week my body got used to it and I don't think I'll need to change anything. It has a cruise controll on it which is wonderful it lets me use my other hand for a while or just lean back and strech out if I start to get stiff. The bike rides so nice I can go for a mile and not ever touch the grips. Oh and this last year it got pretty cold out, I'm a bail bondsman and I have to run back and forth to the jail all hours of the night and at 3 in the morning doing 80 mph in 35 degree weather it well be nice. Note it is only 35 a couple times a year but still. Just ordered a pair of the new shinkos 005 I'll let you all know how they are once I get a chance to abuse them for awhile. Must say price was right had to try them 168.00 front and back delieved off ebay. Well thanks to all that resonded and keep the rubber side down.

    Welcome!

I have a '98 and I am going to strip off the black paint from my rims. I will go with a more satin look. Not wanting to polish those babies, just get the black off of them is all.

I am a "newbie" to the VFR world. I purchased my 2000 Honda VFR800fi in pearl yellow a couple of months ago. Here is my story and I'm sticking to it:
I am currently the owner of a 2007 Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide, however a few months back, I thought about getting a sport touring bike. Unfortunately, I am still making payment on the Harley, but the sport bikes were out of my financial reach. I finally decided that if I found the right sport bike, then it had to be the right price and the right color----yellow! Well, I just happened to live up the street from Florida Motor sports and pass by their store everyday. One day while passing by the their store, I noticed a bright yellow sport bike, but I had no clue it was a VFR. In my excitement, I turned the car around and looked at the bike. It is 2000 Honda VFR800fi in pearl yellow with 23,700 miles. The bike was on consignment and the owner wanted $3,990. I am now the proud owner of this bike and I love to ride it! Sadly, my harley Davidson Dyna is being neglected since I have gotten the VFR!

That's a sweet deal - even with the rash. You could part it out for more than that. They also put Y2K mirror on it - nice!

I got my 2000 viffer about a month ago, pearl yellow (which is the fastest color by the way :). It had 9000 miles on it and I paid $3000 cash for it (STOLE IT). It is a true love affair, but beware, you will spend at least what you paid for it on mods. It hurts so good.

My advice, go get a Sargent seat, motorcycle superstore has them for best price right now that I have found, and spend the extra 30 for the quick release bolts. That is my favorite mod of everything I have done. The Harley just isn't in the same league fun factor wise. Enjoy your new ride man, you got the RIGHT bike!
