    Here is my story:

Just returned from a 900 mile blast to the upper peninsula is Michigan on my VFR. As I was riding into work this morning, I noticed what sounds almost like a bag of marbles rumbling whenever I'm off the throttle. This clatter will persist until I pull in the clutch, then it goes completely away. The noise is variable with bike speed, if I'm coasting with the clutch out, the clatter gets slower as I slow down and seems to go away between 10-15 mph. However, while the clatter gets slower, it doesn't seem to get quieter. At first it sounded like it was coming from my upper faring, but upon further listening seems to be coming from the mid to lower left side, and since it goes away when I disengage the clutch, I assume the problem might be something in there. Any help or comments greatly appreciated. Also, I changed the oil right before the trip, my first oil change on the bike since I just got it. The PO ran Mobil1 in it, and I decided to do the same. Thanks everyone!

    Oh, yeah,

... rattling only when I'm off the throttle. Goes away completely when accelerating

    got it-

A little chain lube cures all- they were 900 hard and fast miles, the chain was real dry. Lubed it up and the noise is gone, but sometime soon the chain will need a through cleaning. Thanks!
