The parts to rebuild the fork will be less than whatever a used one will cost you.

    You'll need:

Snap-Ring Pliers. (make sure the pins are long and angled)
A way to measure the exact amount of fork oil (I used a Measuring cup)
A Socket Large enough for the fork caps
A Vise to hold the forks. (I didn't have one so I struggled)
Hex Socket for the bottom bolt
A Torque wrench is always good.

Make sure as you disassemble the forks you remember where everything goes.

Honda Sells the fork seals and the Dust Seals as a kit. It was my first time doing Fork Seals also, but I learned a lot and saved A lot of $$$.

Post everything in this thread as you go and I'm sure we'll all help.

Download the manual from this site, it will help you more than anything else.
Look and ask here for the nuances.

I've got a Clymer's for 84-86 I picked up off the web someplace. It's a pdf file 143mb. If someone has a place I could push it to for thermostate to download from I'll do that. It's a Clymer (sucks) but should be fine for rebuilding forks.

well I did it and it was easy, alot more simple then I thought it would be. The hardest part was getting the snap ring off and then putting the fork back on the bike when I was done with it!

    Good job!

Did you just Drain them, replace the seals and then fill them up again?

For future reference when tackling something like this that you haven't attempted before, have a digital camera on hand for such tasks to take pictures as you disassemble. This makes it easier getting things back together when you forget the order or places of things and are confuddled to the point of throwing stuff. :)
