    Hi everyone,

I'm new to VFRworld and to this sort of forum but not new to Honda VFR's. I'm up to my 3rd one now and still loving them!!! My current ride is 2001 5th gen VFR800 in what I call electric blue( please can someone correct me on the name right name? ). Previously I've had 2002 VFR800 Vtec and my 1st one was a 1992 VFR750 which I loved!! I've had a number of different bikes over the years: CB350-4, CB400-4, CB900 Bol'dor, Yamaha RZ350, Triumph Daytona, and my 1st bike a Suzuki GT250 X7. My dream bikes are: VFR750R RC30 of course, Ducati 916 or 1098 to name a few.

I'm currently carrying out a minor rebuild to my VFR800 as it needed some fresh paint and TLC, mechanically it is fine, just making sure the valves are adjusted, all fluids replaced and nothing worn out. It has a Staintune exhaust fitted already, venture rack/ bag and a Bagster tank cover/ bag, but I have taken the rack off to fit the rear seat cowl which makes it look a lot sleeker......

Future mods will be a set of heated hand grips...does anyone recommend a certain brand, I have been looking at Oxford heated Hand Grips?? and also a tinted screen.

Let me know if I should be looking at any other useful mods.

    Regards,

    Navman

HEATED GRIPS! WTF dude! From what I understand there is only one spot in the south east where it gets cold enough fo snow!

Seriously though. I ride in weather that has dipped to -9 C. Most the time in the winter it is anywhere from -1 to 6 or 7 C during my commute home. I wear a good pair of Tecnik water proof insulated gloves. At first, they seem a bit bulky but you get used to that pretty quick. And once the temps reach around 8 and up, it is my normal summer riding gloves with gauntlets, and my hands stay quite warm and dry for the hour it takes me to get to and from work.

Welcome to the site mate. We like pix for sure. I love the colour of yours. How sweet would white rims look on that babe. Some day I will get over to explore what I percieve to be a wonderful country. Cept you talk funny and drive on the wrong side of the road. BTW, what side of the bike is the right signal light on down under?

Thanks for the warm reception and compliments guys. I live in the South West of Sydney called Mount Annan( it's not much of a mountain though ), it's a rural area which is nice and laid back....plenty of cows, rolling hills, farms and stuff. The weather here gets pretty cold during winter, it's been down to -7`C and normally around 0-2`C. Then again during summer it is 35-42`C plus, so it's fairly extreme.

That's funny Randy, cause I thought you were the guys that talk weird....love to come over and check out your country as well, tonnes of stuff to see there!!!

The reason I'm repainting is that is has a lot of stone chips across the front of it which doesn't show up in the photo's but I'm a pretty fussy bastard so I have repainted the rims and forks already, just have the body work to go. It's staying the same factory colour so it should look good when finished. I wanted to keep it the factory colours just in case I need to sell it later to buy a VFR RC30.....

Navman is my nickname at work as my last name is Navin, first name being Pete.

I have attached some photo's of the rebuild so far. Although my garage looks messy it is quite tidy, and a large area to work in. I have just refitted the front end on Sunday so it's starting to look like a motorcycle again.

Sorry for the delayed reply as we're not allowed on any forums at work...kill joys...

Will post some other progress pics later.

    Navman
