So I got an 87 VFR700 last September to restore. I'm about 95% done but I'm thinking of selling because I have another project I want to get started.

Here is what I have done so far:

    Complete frame off tear down.
    Cleaned and repainted engine.
    Had frame polished
    Had swingarm polished
    New chain
    New tires
    New battery
    New fluids all around
    Replaced fuel pump
    New seat
    Rebuilt Carbs
Lots of other stuff I can't think of

    What needs to be done:

    Paint and bodywork
Find matching fasteners for bodywork. I have everything attached but the fasternes are wrong...
    Needs a new thermostat.
I'm missing something but it's minor I'm sure.
I remembered... It's still missing front blinkers. The old ones were trashed and I was going to go flush mount...

I have tons of pictures documenting the project and reciepts for backup. I know I'm not going to get what I put into it, I'm just trying to figure out what it might be worth in it's current condition.

Any help or insight would be very much appreciated!!!

I will put up current pictures in a little bit.... Link to rebuild pictures!!!!!

    TIA!!!

    Thats

That pinging sound doesn't sound good, you need to look into that.
I usually see these bikes go for 2-3 grand with bodywork fully intact on fleabay, craigslist...

With all the work you have done to this point I think you should finish it. Most people want to ride the day they purchase a bike and even more so during riding season, projects have to be discounted and you are way to deep to just let it go.

Good point TC.... Althogh I am going to forgo the bodywork I am going to finish everything else. Paint can be a pretty personal thing so I will let the next owner put their own personal touch on it. I will turn it over 100% complete and ready to ride. All the bodywork is in great condition and could be left alone if one wanted to....

Any other opinions on price? Thanks!

I was thinking it was in very good condition to paint, with turn signals and matching fasteners you should do pretty well when you sell.

screw it those old bikes are crap...I'll give you 300 bucks for it and will take it off your hands so you can finally get a good nights sleep.... after all it is an old bike and it really deserves to be put in the scrap pile...... I mean whats the use of fixing up an old bike.......they break down on you,,,, make your pockets grow deep....now that I think on it.. two hundred........? don't think hard cuz then you'll rationalize yourself into keeping it.... WE wouldn't want that.....

I changed my mind about the bodywork. I found matching fasteners for the whole thing while I was out yesterday. I cleaned everything up and it really looks great. I am working on the front turn signals.
If I were going to keep it I would not paint it. It looks great and rides great.
I am kind of sad to sell it but I consider it done so it is time for someone to apprecite it as much as I do!!
