i'm looking for some light, comfy riding pants. with armor, and perforated too. i've been looking at the AGV Willow perforated pants for $199. seem like what i'm after. i'll be wearing A*'s SMX2's, so i guess they would have to go over the boot. leather or textile?? i haven't bought the boots yet, i want Sidi's but i have a wide foot

For my frame of reference: I wear a 32-32 inch waist & have a 37-38 inseam. I have a large foot so keep all these in mind when reading my reply.

I've tried on the Willow pant and the 32 fit me quite well in the waist & thighs but was very short on the leg. The leg stopped just *inside* where my boots end, so I was still protected. I feel it's a very solid leather pant, just don't get it confused with Alpinestars or Spidi. It's good - just not in that category. That's my humble opinion.

Personally I'd wear the AGV Willow collection - and I may even pick that up myself at some point.

I don't know if this pant from A-stars is cost prohibitive (see link), if not they may be exactly what you're looking for. Leather in all of the critical areas and breathable textile in the non-crucial areas. A-stars states that this particular textile is every bit as strong as their leather. Knee sliders can be added if so desired, if not they come with a leather cover for the velcro, where the knee sliders would normally be attached. They sport all of the protection you'll need, including a small leather patch to protect the business end of your junk, and most tracks will let you on with them as long as it's not an organized race. I use these pants for canyoning all summer long and they manage to keep me quite comfortable.

It sounds like you are already aware, but to reiterate, if you have even a slighty wide foot you'll want to stay away from Sidi boots. Maybe try TCX competiziones or even certain A-stars instead.
