what do you mean 560-580? would the scale not settle? I weighed my 5th gen wet at 520...I used the scale at the dump ...no charge.

I had mine weighed at the local dump also and was not charged.
The clerk said the weight is between 560-580 so maybe the scale was digital and the number kept going up and down.

    BTW...Central coast ? where?

With a spring seat it rides fine. With any other seat it is no good. I have built at least 4 custom (expensive) seats with different types of foam etc., but only the spring mounted seat is any good.

H-D got it right a long time ago.

It is awesome! Thinking it would be much lighter but that rear tire f'd up the deal.

donald reg71 is in the paso robles /atascadero area... if the bike isn't breathing or moving, what made the weight change so much?

The frame has to be heavier without the rear suspension because it takes more of a beating.
If the rider loses weight, that would help the most.

Don't know, maybe it is their scale or the clerk did not want to wait while the scale calmed down.

I asked him about a charge and he said they only charge if you are dumping something.
I was not going to push him.

By the Way....I think the weight difference other than frame could be because the stock bike has twin front disk brake rotors and those stock rotors are heavy parts.

A chopper certainly cannot stop as fast as a sport bike.

The stock wheels/tires on the R are also very heavy and the stock shock is around 10 lbs. With the CBR wheels and modern shock my R is down to about 560 lbs with 1/2 tank of gas. Probably 575-580 full of fuel.
