Hope nobody minds if I open up a tech thread. I got my bike today and I already have some questions like: how do I lift ass end up to change the back tire? I've never seen a bike with a single sided swingarm (nixes the spools) that didn't have a centerstand. I know that the stand is an option, but do you really think the dealer installs one when they change a tire? I'm thinking there has to be a better way. It will probably require some sort of ATV style lift along with a rod installed in the holes that would normally be used to mount the centerstand. Does anyone have any pictures of a solution?

Thats a pretty nice stand. Thanks for the link. Wonder where we can buy it in the USA. I was thinking a 10 x 10 board and scissors jack would work after removing the lower cowl, Ive used the same method to get the front ends up in the air on my other bikes.

I think Pit Bull or one of the other guys may have something at the GP races in Laguna. I emailed the company in Italy and i will post if I get a response. I was also thinking about rigging something underneath, but remember that if you lift it from one point instead of two outside points (like the stand in the link), you will end up with 600 lbs teetering from side to side. I will make something if I have to, but I would rather pay for something already finished.

It's atrocious that Honda elected to not include a center stand with the new VFR1200.
Having a rear stand like the one from Italy is nice . . . in the garage, but out on
a road trip the center stand on the bike can be mighty handy.
I wish I had one on my Ducati.
Anybody know what Honda is asking for their center stand? . . . installed?

I want to bitch about my 91 not coming with a centerstand too. Shame on Honda and may someone pee in thier sushi.

Best bet? Buy a centerstand or when you think your friendly sales dude who represents your friendly dealer is about to get a woody over what his commish is on a 15k sale is, tell salesdude you either get a centerstand (installed) or you walk.

Do I have centerstands on both bikes? Sure do. Paid for the one on the 91 but at the time I was wheeling and dealing for a tankbag and a Yoshimura can.

Not so much a problem on the 1200 but on the other gens sure makes not only tire changes easier but washing the rear wheel too. Did I mention chain adjustments?

Another huge benefit of a centerstand on a 1200 is that all kinds of dudes can now sit on the bike and write reports on what is wrong with it.

I contacted Pit Bull in the USA and they developed a rear stand for the VFR1200 for Honda. Pit Bull will not sell it direct as it is to be sold through Honda dealers under the Honda Motorcycle Too and Equipment Program. I have not been able to find one at a dealer as yet. The are typical PB quality and have a shaft that is inserted into the center stand bracket which lifts the bike like a typical rear stand. The price is $123, part number FSDF0086000.

Thanks for posting this. I'll order one of these when I go in for the 600 mi service this week. I wonder if PB is also doing a typical front stand?

Any chance of getting a bigger scan of the product sheet? The one you posted seems to be thumbnail size.

    Thanks

I spoke to my Honda dealer and they told me to get this stand directly from Pitbull. I called Pitbull and they said, yes, it is available. I didn't ask, but I think it is $139. Pitbull says they are running a promotion at the Laguna GP races and they will ship for free (which is good because they won't have any of these at the track).

$139 is a good deal. I just ordered one from my dealer who quoted the MSRP at 207 and sold it to me for 180. I believe that the dealer's cost is 123.

I bought a stand from Pitbull at Laguna MotoGP. They gave me a better cash price, but said that the stand was supposed to retail for about $164, though they were not sure. I haggled a little and paid $150 and they threw in the shipping. Fair enough I thought.

Good for you. Be careful when you lift the bike for the 1st time. I actually roll the back wheel on a 2" piece of lumber so that less effort is required to get it up on the stand. Then when it is up I place a pin in the shaft so that it cannot slide off the stand.

It is great for working on the bike, oil changes, cleaning, etc. You really must have either a center stand or this stand. I would not sit on the bike like I have on a traditional swing arm stand - probably not a good idea.

It is a quality Pit Bull product. Not quite as convenient as a traditional swing arm or SSS stand but nice if you do not want to mount a center stand all the time.

See. The new VFR does have some "sport" in it. No center stand. I could have sworn I saw an OEM Honda center stand that bolts to the bike on a forum some guy posting pics of VFR1200 accessories. Maybe I'm losing it.

Just got off the phone with Pit Bull. They have plenty to ship right now.

You have to order over the phone, as it's not on the PB web site yet.

Correct part number is actually F0086-000
    Price is $179.95 plus shipping.
