Just bought a 6thGen ('02) and am really enjoying bring it back to pristine condition. Any hints on how best to clean the bead-blasted or shot-peened metal surfaces of the aft frame, lower engine mount and swingarm ? Kerosene and nylon/brass/wire brush have made surface better but I'd like to get it back to that fresh surface look. It looks like the surface was streaked with a cleaner of some sort. Any suggestions?

....the bare metallic parts with all of the little pits that retain surface layer corrosion discoloration.

thats a sand casted aluminum section. the upper frame section, the already smooth and somewhat shiny part of the frame, is pressed aluminum, thats why there is a difference.

well if yours is like mine was, it was painted silver, not bare metal. if you scrub it too hard you're going to damage the paint. you can always polish the metal underneath, but trust me its a bitch to bring sand casted aluminum to a shine.
