Just finished the 929 shock out back. It made a amazing difference.

I have the proper springs up front for my weight and am now thinking about the internals.

My race tech mech. is saying I should put in race tech emulators. I did a search and not much has been said about the emulators. Other sites say they rock. VFRW seems to be all about the gold valves.

Anyone have anything to say (good or bad) about the emulators and the VFR?

    TIA

I don't have them in my VFR but I do have them in my DR650 And they work great! They eliminate a lot of braek dive and help on rapid and slow bumps as well.

Didn't know they were available for the VFR? Do you have a link on which ones you speak of? Kinda always considered the Gold Valves as the emulators really...

Loving my Gold Valves though. Can't wait till this winter to do the final tweak on them.

I believe that "emulators" refer to the RaceTech products that enable damper-rod style forks (SV650 and older bikes) to "emulate" cartridge-style forks. The "gold valves" are improved shim stacks that are used to replace the OEM shim stacks in cartridge-style forks. The terminology gets mixed and matched a lot.

I use the emulators in my SV650, and they make a huge difference, but the SV had pretty crummy stock suspension. I know that Jamie Dougherty thinks highly of the RaceTech gold valves for the 6th Gen, FWIW. I think the 5th Gen has cartridge style forks, so the RaceTech products would probably make an improvement.
