I can't wait for the auto tranny so I can ride in flip flops again. That dam shift lever hurts the shit out of my big toe.

    Not a chance.

I finally saw one in person a couple of weeks ago and I'll have to say it is too ugly for me. Of course I still think the pre-Klingon '99 is the best looking.

A bike has to appeal to me visually before I'll consider it as an option. I withheld judgment on the 1200 until I had seen it. The styling just turns me off big time, and I really hate the shape of the tank and the plastic "wings" that keep a magnetic tank bag from working. Thanks, but no thanks.

I voted that I would not consider buying one. I have not tested one and probably wouldnt as i'm not in the market for a new bike. I do agree with KC-10 in his comments and add the Spint comes standard with panniers etc.
Was Honda seeing a drop in sales of the VFR800 (gen 6) and so decided to re-model it? Maybe they could have continued with the 800 and added the 1200 in full touring guise for new and existing VFR riders. I know I ride a VFR 800 because it is a great comfortable road bike. Why would I change?

I am seriously thinking about trading my manual tranny 1200 in for an auto tranny model or maybe I'll get a Honda PCH or a Rune. Bottom line is that I will have to sit on one of the auto tranny models before I make up my mind.

Voted no...looks like a bulimic version of the soulless ST1300 that I unloaded after 4800 miles of mind numbing droneage that I took a $$$ hit on in 2006. To competent at feeding nothing that I ride a bike for. Civic's at least have air conditioning and range. Riding a bike for me at the very least needs to be a visceral experience. If you're buying a bike this expensive, I doubt you're doing so for economic reasons. I can't justify that here. A Kawasaki Versys serves all the hopes I have for two wheeled joy at 10,000 dollars less. Why am I investing in this machine? How's my soul getting fed? I won't internalize the marketing hype. I won't be pwned again.

I'm interested. Gonna take one for a test drive soon. Had my '03 since new & put 55K on it. I love the color of the new bike. I was unimpressed at first until I saw it. Maybe get one next year. First thing to go still has to be the muffler tho.

still haven't got to see one in person local place here had one but it was damaged in shipping (I think it was the one reg71 tested) so it wasn't gonna be out on the floor for a while. I dunno, IF I had the money to dedicate to the purchase of this machine ... I dunno, maybe next year the bugs may be worked out by then would be my answer.

Auto trannys on bikes are for fags. Real men ride Boss Hogs and wear Tshirts that say, "We don need no steenking trannys!"

I wish there was some way to poll different groups with these same choices.

I fully expected most people on this forum (current VFR owners) to not consider buying one.

But I bet if you could somehow poll the "power sport-tourer", you'd get much more placement in the "will buy/do want it" category.

I voted that I would not consider buying one. To me it is typical offering from the factory (any factory). They add complexity, they add displacement, horsepower, styling and add two or three grand to the price. They come up with a more expensive bike in a down economy? My Honda shop has one VFR1200 sitting on the floor and with all the accolades in the press you would think there would be some interest in it but the response has been rather lack luster. For me, as always, it is a price issue. I am a working guy. Motorcycles have always taken a back seat to family expenses like cars, house and utility bills. I can only keep one good bike at a time. A motorcycle’s purchase price has to be balanced against the family budget. While I think the VFR1200 is a fantastic bike it is just not something I would even consider dropping a quarter of my annual salary on.

If your 73 Commando is in nice shape it's worth more than it was when it was new. So how many bikes was it you could afford?

Ditch some of the ankle biters..

By “bikes that I could afford” I was referring to good bikes to ride and go places on and not project bikes to wrench on and worry if you’re going to make it there and back. The original Commando purchase price was $500. It came with a promise to ride rather than sell it. It is a rolling restoration that is about half way there. It is pretty rusty in spots and would probably bring around $3000. The thought has occurred to me to sell "The Beast" but I know that if I do I will forever kick myself because I will never get another one. (And it is a blast to ride.) My kid has already told me that he wants to inherit the bike when I kick. My VF500F came to me in a similar way as a $500 project. (I am a sucker for a good $500 bike.) With the VF500F I am not so concerned with using it. After the initial sorting out she has been a flawless ride. I am thinking of riding her to Barber Vintage Days this Fall if I can add a little padding to the seat and install a little bigger counter shaft sprocket to lower the RPMs a tad at cruising speed.

If only they had made the 1200 like the ZX-12 it would do a lot better. The 7gen looks like the gentleman caller's bike.. its to classy and wierd looking for the brand Honda. I think that it might be fun to have a faster bike but I love the looks of my 6gen and wouldn't give that up for a 7gen considering its looks.

I will not be buying one unless the "facelift" model is released.
The front end is (still) butt ugly and I would consider an R1 first. The price comparison would also feature highly in the consideration.

Honda likes to get their tooling and mold costs back first...so it's gonna be a good while.

I'm about 80% sure im gonna buy one! I was, like many others, dissapointed in the looks @ first, but in person... I like it. I went to the local dealership & I think it looks good on me! My head may need to be examined, but I actually like the stock exhaust, over the Akra, 2 bros or laser cans that are out. I dont like the gap they leave @ the bottom of the bike. But I'm not willing to pay anything close to what they are asking. :gun3: $15,995!

I have decided I really hate my 1200 for all the usual reasons. It's for sale for $2,999.95. Theres a catch though. Anybody that badmouthed the 1200 for any reason can't buy mine.

Give it a few years, they will dramaticly drop in price like the 6gen did as I think these won't sell as well as the 6gen. There is so many better looking and more sporty bikes in its class imo.

I was so put off by first the concept, then the photos and then finally the "real thing". The wife of the dealership owner asked me if i would like
a test ride and i said i had just come to see if it was as ugly in the flesh as it looked in the photos. The only concession i made was to sit on it and
the seat height is about the as my 5th Gen. I was however in the market for a new bike so I just bought a new Triumph Daytona 675.
