    DWH is the worst ever.

I move oil for a living on these oil pots called tankships. I've become a glutton for oil spill history. Now I just wish I spent this time learning the stock market instead of reading & talking about this oily shit.

I hope they cap this fucking oil geyser soon, too.

I would like to know why Hollywood is getting involved. Again. Kostner's brother has an idea, just like so many other scientists. I mean, come on. So your pitch man is a hollywood star. So what. THere are a lot of things out there that will clean up this oil. Use them all, not just one.

Fixed that for you since Canada is our largest importer of oil, by 2x. Mexico #3, Venezuela #4, Nigeria #5. Crude Oil and Total Petroleum Imports Top 15 Countries

Whether it's Canada, Despite Risks, U.S. Relying More on Canada Oil Sands - NYTimes.com, Nigeria or Venezuela , the environmental impacts of our oil addiction are enormous. This is the first time in a couple decades we've actually had an impact here at home. We're outraged!! And the Nigerians continue to suffer at the hands of Shell and others..

For those that don't believe this could have been prevented and that accidents happen. Here's a good read from Rolling Stone Mag. It's an 8 page read, Definitely not a boring read. It was known what could happen in a worst case scenario and nobody took steps to stop it or even prepare for it. Tell me who's running this country? Or is it what'$$$$$$ running this country.

The Spill, The Scandal and the President | Rolling Stone Politics

Hat's off to Tim Dickinson. Good research.

No it's not! Unless you think it is. Are you paranoid? You know they are out to get you.....................

If not then let this kid fix it! Better than those from the oil industry and government so far.

Is BP Smarter Than a 10-Year-Old?

Are YOU smarter than a 10 year old????

I usually view Rolling Stone political articles with bit of jaundiced eye, since they are sorta Fox News for lefties, but this articles hit some good points, primarily the cozy relationship the MMS has had with Big Oil for some time now. All well and good until something bad happens. Everyone gets seduced by the big bucks.

Good article, he even managed to keep the snarky comments to a minimum.

Funny how these kinds of problems never seem to go away, with enough money, any fox can guard his own hen house.

Funny also how , what with all the various media we now have access to, one can come away after extensive time on a subject thinking he's well informed, and never see an opinion that differs from his own. Think about that the next time something of this magnitude occurs.

Or better yet, think about that now while this is going on, and dont limit yourself in your information sources.

    Thanks GreyV750f

As we’ve discussed these ‘issues’ before Brother Bear; it insults ones iwhen all you hear is your own opinion on a matter regurgitated back to you a’la Faux News, Communist News Network, etc.

Thorough journalism is indeed a rare animal, but one must remember we are still held by the grip of bad postmodern philosophy and thinking. The idea that ‘truth’ is subjective or relative to a person’s point of view is detrimental to society and the way it attempts to explain itself and existence. I’d say, when I have gone on the attack on this board my underlying motivation is to expose the postmodern philosophy the individual is embracing, not the individual themselves (with exception to a few). As a result I have been accused of acting in a un-Christian manner.

Outside of the few personal attacks I have done, which I must wear the “I am acting un-Christian” badge, it’s the person embrace, whether conscious or not, of post modern thought that I go after. It manifests itself in weird belief systems about “personal freedom” “Doing whatever one chooses as long as it hurts no one else” or any litany of BS crammed down our throats regarding how we can excuse our poor behavior via the belief system we hold and the products we purchase to define our inner being that tell us what a good person we really are underneath it all.

Bottom line, so I don’t turn this into a thesis paper: Truth is never subjective or relative; it always “is”.

"It is what it is" as the saying goes. What is the truth from who and what perspective?

Yes thinking outside the box is good. What bothers me is those who "can't think inside the box"! It's easier to be told the truth than to seek it out.

It's rather hard to believe that a company the size of BP would consciously make decisions that would potentially subject them to this type of disaster and massive liability exposure. But maybe the heads at BP aren't any smarter than our so-called leaders in DC. Are there any intelligent people left with the ability, conscience, morals, and ethics to make the hard, but correct, decisions?

There I go again with my rhetorical questions.

I like the way one guy explained this a while back. It's like your house is on fire and here are these guys trying to design and build a fire truck from scratch.
The obvious question is- Why don't we have a fire truck? Nobody imagined this could happen? BS.

Well shucks dude, I just dont have the energy to git into another deebate with ye on moral relativism again pardner.............ahhaahhahhaaaaa

If youre talking specific factiods, as in exactly how many damn barrels of unrefined crude oil are flowing into the beloved ocean, well thats one thing.

If youre talking cubic miles of bullshit flowing from CEOs, spokespersons, talking heads, government officials, and media types, well, thats a whooooole other thing.

By now, everyone with any sense can spot a spinmeister a mile away no doubt, we've been fed them long enough that if you cant, you are hopeless.

The "truth" is oftentimes a malleable concept when talking about things like the reasons something occured, and it is always subject to revision by those with an axe to grind. The 'truth" as it applies to high ideas can be malleable as well, witness the long long list of religious denominations in this country alone.

But you are correct, truth does exist somewhere, it can just be very hard to discover, but it is worth the effort.

Such are the ramblings that go through one's mind when slowed to speeds that dont require total concentration to keep from running up that soccer mom's minivan driving ass, and when those thoughts do intrude, I sometimes wick it back up to the speed that keeps me occupied. My bike keeps me sane.

I havent been riding enough lately

Toxic - are you flying or road tripping? I'm sure there are friendly faces and places along the way if you need.

Say, anyone know where the telethons and fund raising music concerts are now?
