Staintune vs. Micron (vs. other)?

So far every comment i've had on my staintunes is "sounds like a V8" which is exactly the sound i was after.
All the sound clips i listened to drew me to the 'tunes, expensive yes, i never thought i would spend that much on 1/2 an exhaust system.
I deliberated for ages about buying them, within 1 minute of firing the bike up the spuds were out, and have not gone back in (and they won't unless i get a ticket for a noisy exhaust).
Best money i've spent so far on it.:biggrin:

 

Guess its a bit subjective and in all honesty haven't heard any VFR equiped with an aftermarket end Can sound anything but good, a sound I regularly take my earplugs out for during VFR ride twistie sections.

While think the Microns may have the Nod with a deeper sound in the lower to Mid Rev's, personally believe a well worn in Gen 6 'Tunes sound the better Mid range and above, where the Gen 6 Micron Note seems to get a little confused with Rev's the 'Tunes Note just Growls better and better....

Again its all subjective to opinion, the best ever VFR I have heard is RDM's Gen 4 with a Tingate. Ultra

 

Hi,
I've bought two Staintunes, both for VFRs (one a '95, the other a '97). They're beautifully made, easy to fit and sound wonderul, giving full voice to the V4 roar. Sounds even better when you remove the baffle, which comes out with a single small Allen head. Once it's out, you'll never reinstall it, unless you need to have a decibel check!

I got a Micron CF high mount on mine, sounds so bad ass at idle, wish it was a tad louder at speed.
I do like how it never gets hot to burn you.

I just watched a vid of a dyno pull on you tube that had a 5th gen that they cut a 2b's CF in half. VERY nice sounding.

Hi I live in Australia and have a 1999 50th aniversary vfr with high mount Staintune slip-on. I ride with the spud out I don't think its legal but I don't get any hassels. It just sounds the best with the spud out can't describe it till ya hear it. Almost 4 cylinder Ducati if they had one. It just sounds awsome from idle to 12,000 and looks great. Had it for 5 years now still looks like new

That does sound good. And what a great tune selected for the dyno graph review at the end.

 

Have a Micron CF hi mount on my 2000, I like the exhaust note better than on my friends Stainintune low mount on his 98. Most of it's going to be personal preference, I know he 'says' he prefers his to mine...

But one thing can't be denied, agree wholeheartely with Fred above a VERY nice feature about Carbon Fiber is that it never gets hot to the touch - very important with a high mount.
