The new BMW 800 ST looks interesting but don't think they have made it to North America yet. Lets hope they do but my viffer is almost new so I am not planning on changing.

1098 would be nice, but I do miss the 919. I seemed to do everything well.

No I won't change either. There was a time when I would, but not anymore. Unfortunately my riding miles have dropped significantly since the birth of the little guy.
so not worth having a more expensive bike.

They are supposed to make it to the US though, in the Spring. They look pretty sweet. Except for the saddlebags -- at least to me.

Duc Ten-Nine-Eight (if I didn't have to pay for it)! If I have to use my cash, a Tuono (used).

and the ZX-14 concours WILL be the best.

But I'd own a Sprint ST or FZ-1 if no VFR existed..

All nice bikes - The ZX-14 is a beautiful and fast bike, but not comfortable for touring for me. I am not a racer, but I like good performance which enhances my ability to tour. Now a Concurs ZX-14 sounds good - especially if they can keep the price reasonable. The ZX-10 is a great bike also, but still not a very comfortable ride for me (It is still a Gorgeous fast bike for people who want speed with excellent handling, suspension and brakes - oh and did I mention Gorgeous!). My main bike perferences are handling, suspension, brakes, reliability, seat and body position). I also like a bike to be about 500lbs wet for touring (I am more comfortable in heavy wind and crosswinds when going over bridges with the extra weight) I love going to the track and watching the races and the the guys that perform some great stunts - but only at the track. I am 6 ft and 205lbs and I am in pretty good shape. If there were no VFR I would have two bikes and one would be a GoldWing, ST1100 or 1300 (I would also consider the BMW LT depending on costs). My second bike choices would be the Honda VTR SuperHawk (great bike for a V-Twin but a real gas guzzler), Yamaha YZF Thunderace, Yamaha R1 (for a racing bike it is not bad on comfort and I could tour on it - weird huh), or a Suzuki SV1000s. The Ducati 1098 or the Ducati 800cc SuperSport, would be my only bike if I could afford either of them (cost of the bike, maintenance and insurance). I would definately need risers or Helibars since the Ducati bikes tend to kill my wrists.

I think this is the engine for the new Aprilia v-4. The new Aprilia V4 engine was presented at the EICMA show. The details Aprilia released are as follows: projected to produce more than 210bhp @ 13.500rpm, 999cc, 65degree V4, 4 titanium and nymonic valves per cylinder, six-speed cassette type gearbox and fly-by-wire ready ECU from Magneti Marelli. (or then again, it could be their new race engine; wonder wonder ... interesting none the less, me thinks.)

After seeing one in person and sitting on it, I would have to say almost without a doubt if there were no VFR, I would get one of the new BMW F800STs. Although I still think the bags look goofy.

without my love, I'd lapse into unconsciousness.

    I'd become catatonic, motionless.

drown in a pool of my own spittle.

If you mean at this second would probably look closely at the Super Blackbird and CBR1000RR, 3rd choice think the GSX1300R in Black/Silver or Silver/Blue worth a look.

If say mid 2008 maybe the ZZR1400 once Kawasaki has ironed out all the possible early build bug's.
