    Hey All,
Just bought a VF500, here in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada. I was aprehensive about buying an older bike but when I sat on this bike I fell in love. Wondering if anyone has changed the head/tail lights at all. I've heard people talking about conversion kits for VFRs just wondering if anyone is doing this for the VF500s ?

    Thanks

    Mike

Welcome from Ottawa. I think that it would be tough to do on the 500 since there was not later generation that may be adaptable. You would have to do a lot of custom work, particularly with the front fairing.

Let us know if you come up with anything.

Bought one in cole harbour last fall . Had planned on buying aftermarket headlight and 6 gen faring kit from ebay and modifying it to fit but winter passed and didn't have time for such an extensive project so i just repaired the originales. If i do get around to it next winter i'll post pics to let you know how it works out.

I'd leave it stock looking if I was you....just my opinion. I hate seeing these classic bikes raped by "modern" design.

I installed an HID light in my bike and called it a day.

    EDIT: oh yeah....pics please!

how did you do the HID upgrade is this something that was quick, thats probably more or less what I was thinking anyways, I'm not really prepared to do a who front end swap on an older bike.

    Thanks for the advice!!

You can just buy an HID kit for a motorcycle.

The HID "bulb" replaces the stock halogen, the connectors should plug into the bikes stock headlight connectors and you are done. Literally plug and play.

The hardest part was finding a place to mount the ballast.

Motorcycle shops would carry them but I imagine they'd be very very expensive. I bought my kit off of a member of a local motorcycle forum.

Look locally, but if you can't find anything there Ebay would be your next best bet, but unfortunately you never know what kind of crappy kit you can get from there.

LOL....don't take offense. It's just what members put up when they really really wanna see pictures of your bike.
