So I wen to New Jersey like I said and picked up the bike (pics coming soon) and when I got there I saw that it was a complete street fighter but he had MOST of the parts that he took off. So if some one can help me find some stuff it would be uber helpful. I am looking for the brackets that hold the front cowl on I have the stay but need the rest of them also I am looking for the side covers and a head light unit. All the sites I've looked on the parts I need are discontinued :frusty:... PLEASE HELP I would really like to have it look as close to stock as possible, minus the paint and pipes.

It's an 86' VFR700F and holy crap every part I need is discontinued or cost $500+. Right now I need my radiator fixed and just got told that oem is like $650. WTF I know these things are rare but WOW it's like finding parts for a Roles Royce .
Salvage yards have the pieces you want. I could find 20 sidecovers with ONE call. Many yards have 800 numbers, so get Googling, and start dialing.
pm sent....I have a radiator that JTC sent me......never really looked at it but will in a bit.....if it is good you can have it.
That would be so awesome thanks .... I found body parts at a bone yard in Cali. so now I have to figure out why it won't rev over 5 grand when its in gear. It will with no pressure on the motor but when you try to open it up it sounds like its hitting the rev limiter then you push it harder and it will go but not with out a fight. I drained the carbs and got a cloudy liquid out of it so I pulled the rack off and clean them inside and out plus the plugs look brand new and I change out the fuel filter.. I'm hitting the wall right now I have NO IDEA what to do next.
are you running fresh gas? cloudy liquid may be water... try running clean gas directly into the carbs
I put fresh gas through the carbs and even put cleaner through it. not sure what it is.. I am going to rip off the rack again and see if there is an air leak anywhere not sure how but need to rule that out also.
So I pulled the rack off again to discover that the carb insulators are ripped and cracking plus I found that the float on the number 2 carb wasn't closing all the way. Now I have to order the parts and then put it back together.. Hopefuly this fixes the problem. As far as the body goes I found a guy in Cali that has a crap load of the pcs that I need. OHH and I found out why the radiator was leaking THE GD THINGS IS BENT IN THREE DIFFERENT WAYS!!!! Hopefully it can be fixed.
So here's a question for all of you.. If my bike has aftermarket pipes on it does that mean that I have to re-jet it or do something with the air fuel mixture? Cause when I got it someone put F1R's on it and I don't know if that is part of my problem or not. I ordered the carb seals and new plugs plus I cleaned out the bowls is there anything else I should do? And yes I drained the tank and put FRESH fuel in it.
being as you found other definite problems, my recommendation would be to leave the jetting alone. Note what is currently installed and leave it be. All you can do is assume that the bike ran fine once upon a time as equipped when you got it. Making any changes at this point will only complicate trouble shooting.
more than likely would be OK, the only way to tell is to have the exhaust sniffed or check plugs. running lean is bad, but it's unlikely you will be unless you hear a lot of popping in the exhaust on over run or see white plug tips, would imagine you would be fine
