I'm trying to buy a 2004 ABS model this weekend, and one thing I noticed is that the ABS sensor ring is different. The 2004 has a solid ring with ridges and the 2007 shown has a ring with cutouts. I'm just trying to make sure the 2004 has the original un-messed with ABS, because when I type in the VIN to our state registration system it doesn't come back with ABS (although this could be due to how the dealer titled the bike). if this is the norm, is there any difference in performance, or does the older system work just as well? Thanks

My 03' looks exactly like the pic you show of an 04' assembly.

My 03 also looks exactly like the pic of the 04 you posted, never noticed this difference before. I wouldn't worry about this being aftermarket stuff, probably just another mid 6th gen change Honda made. If the ABS light comes on when you start her and goes off allmost instantly when you take off, you're good. Can't speak for performance, even on my model , never activated it that I know of.

Thanks guys. I got the bike and even tested the ABS. It works! I wonder why they made the change.

I must know, what crazy shit did you pull to get the ABS to activate, or do I just not have the balls to squeeze the brakes that hard maybe???
