Someone told me the other day that VTEC's need some expensive valve adjustment at 6,000 miles. True? I can't find this in the owner's book.

Also, do you necessarily need a Honda mechanic to do the work on 8,000 or 12,000, or 30,000 mile check-ups? My bike is out of warranty already since its a 2003, and I am just reaching 8,000 miles now.

Any help of regular maintenance would be appreciated.

The valves should be checked and adjusted if needed at 16,000 miles and on average is about $300 to get it done by a dealer. Ducati's need the valve adjustment every 6,000 miles.

I'm moving to Milwaukee! My dealer says around $600 at 16k.
