Looking to put some luggage on my bike, but I don't want it to look/be too big as I'm commuting in DC. I think I would like the look of the E21 top-load rectangular cases on the VFR, but was wondering about the size. Anybody have them that could verify I could fit a laptop some books and maybe a pair shoes in one of them? Any alternatives. I like the pelican top-loaders, but I think they are even smaller.

    Any suggestions?

It will depend on the size of the laptop case, I have a slim one and it just fits in my E21's.

I can measure mine and see for you. I have a set Im selling due to tax reasons if you need to buy a set, pretty much in new condition$145.00 shipped. Also have some E360's one black with scratches from a tip over on gravel $100.00 shipped, the other one like new with Dark Red top and small run in factory paint that is not bad $170.00 shipped in USA. I like the look too, and you can't lane split with anything wider.

I saw a LEO splitting on a ST1300 with wider bags...he was close, but he went on like it was no biggie so I followed on my VFR. I only had my top bag on, though so I wasn't worried...

I was really disappointed when I found that the E21s wouldn't fit a 15" laptop in a padded case. Then when I slammed the bike down hard (10-20 mph highside due to locked rear wheel and trying to turn...) I was VERY glad I had the laptop in a top-case. It was rashed up (the case), and the laptop has a tiny dent, but it was otherwise ok.

The set I have are E21's. I have one black E360 and one that has a Smooth painted RED top. I also have a 3rd mounting setup, some wing racks, 6th gemn upper mounts and one top mount base.

I've been running the GIVI E-21's for about a decade and have over 75,000 miles of trouble-free expreriences. They've been crammed well beyond recommended capacity more often than not and have been subjected to all kinds of weather. I highly recommend them. Yet, my 15" notebook will not fit in the one of the cases if it's also in the padded case. I wouldn't put the notebook in the cases otherwise. If I set just the notebook in one of the E-21's then it'll fit just fine. If I've got to take it with me on the bike then I just put it in the padded case and bungie it over the rear seat. I've got E-360's too and they'd easily carry a few of the notebooks- but I think they're just too large for daily use.

And I have had ZERO issues rubbing any cars with my E360's on even in narrow LA traffic lanes....unlike some people here that collect paint for every county they cross over onto their bags...
