I know that guy well, he is a fixture at SP lately and I saw him ride his first track day last spring. Older (44) Skinny (120lbs) Indian guy with Pakistani made "ducati" leathers from ebay. He actually had the nerve to come up to me last year (I was on the 999) and said the only reason I was 20 seconds faster than him was because I was riding an S bike. I got news for him - I was 20 seconds faster than him on the VFR at main in May. A total scary douche.

Yea, I noticed the same thing about my mid turn corrections. The original video is 15mins long. In the last couple of minutes after passing the R1 I got some open track and I seemed to do much better on the cornering speed and the mid turn correcting. In the afternoon sessions I hit no traffic and I was really putting it all together. This is why I think I was a bit nervous with the other riders. And yea I would have passed that R1 between turn 9 and 10 but for some reason he thought he was supposed to be on the right side of the track.

betarace- Yea that is the same dude. Nice enough dude, I talked to him earlier in the morning. He pitted right across from our group. I felt like I had no choice but to say something to the head mofo's in charge. I don't think he was even hitting triple digits in the straight. That's when in the first video you see me turn off the throttle in the straight. Cause I looked down the track and saw him. The first thing I thought was that I would run him over in the turns. You know he might have something for you since he told me he upgraded his rear suspension to a ohlins triple. I hate see nice bikes going to waste.

Anyone have any thoughts of joining me at Summit Point for the next MARRC track day on July 2nd?

Allow me to quote the NESBA Rider's Manual "If it is raining at your house that does not mean it is raining at the track!"

Now go to your room and READ!

Matt, without a CR or another rider of equal or better skill to pull you around it can be hard to improve as fast as one might hope. I always struggle at Summit because I think I have a hard time visualizing the turns as I approach. The back section is awesome but the blind high speed turns are unnerving! Unfortunately I have to work July 3 at 0600 so making it up for Friday would be tricky. Gotta check the funds too. That Duc guy was more than painful to watch. What the hell is he doing on the track? He should be on a bicycle in his backyard. One thing I recently learned that has helped me a lot recently is in your longer video at 7:20, the guy in front of you appears to be awakaned from a deep sleep by a very loud horn and suddenly jumps off his bike to go around the turn. This movement unsettles EVERYTHING! His body position, line, entry speed, suspension, and braking are all completely thrown off. I just learned to never EVER sit in the middle of the seat. Always hang off in anticipation of the next turn even if it's at the other end of the straight. This saves fatigue by limiting your movements, allows you to anticipate and think about the turn since your body is already in position, and that's one less thing you don't have to try to remember to do besides not washing the front wheel under braking. It takes some getting used to but always hanging off made me a lot smoother and suddenly people noticed so another "letter" was affixed on my fender.

I will be going to SP on Thursday June 17 with Roger Lyle. My next NESBA day will most likely be August at VIR South, South, North. Possibly a Summit, NJMP, or Beaverun in between now and then. I look forward to getting out there with y'all sometime this year!

Missing the RC51 yet Glockem? A couple weeks ago I was seriously considering a straight up trade for a 600RR. Then the "Beast" and I had a come to Jesus at Road Atlanta. She turns faster and handles better than ever before. Must have been that adjustment I made on top to that nut that isn't always screwed on tight, you know, the one wrapped up in leather. My tires seem to be lasting longer and I'm finally figuring out what those toe sliders on boots are for...with a knee down hehe.

Thanks for all the advise guys. Great food for thought for the next track day.

I love is when I read people bash Nesba for being to overbearing or something along those lines. My first impression with nesba I wasn't happy at all. We got rained on like a mofo and they still put us on the track. The head CR was like, "this is great day to go slow and learn the track. Keep it slow and find the race line." Then when to the map and said, "okay, you cant go here in this turn cause there is standing water and same with this turn and that turn and I think this one has a stream running through it. The first session after lunch I guy I knew dumped his bike on the track. Me a few others called it quits and packed up. I called my buddy and he told me it took them 2hrs to clean the track and so they were going to give everyone a half day credit. Which I guess is more than anything we would have probably gotten with some of the other organizations. I then used that credit this year before I lost it and did the season opener at NJMP. That one day changed my whole thought process about Nesba. Not only were the CR's plentiful the we actively looking for riders to coach. They didn't have to come and find me. I pulled off after the first session and started up with one of the CR's. The rest of the day he was working with me on different things. I liked how they got everyone in the class room after lunch and told us that if we were working with the CR's we were wasting our time and money. I have made my way around the circuit of rider groups yet but so far I'm really impressed with nesba. With Marrc, it seemed hit and miss with the amount of CR's that were on track at any given time. I even spoke with one of the guys taking the racing school and he said the first session the ratio was about three cr's for every one rider taking the school. Mind you there were only 7 people taking the racing school. He said in the session he was on the track mostly by himself. At one point he picked up a CR and road with that CR but never saw them off the track or for the rest of the day. For me, in the afternoon the track day pretty much turned into a open track event. I distinctly remember heading out there for one session after the 3rd call I entered pit lane and saw no one and was waved directly onto the track. The next session I hauled ass up there and entry pit lane when they were making the second call. And again, no one was up there and I was waved directly onto the track. So no CR's were insight. Hell, for the last two sessions it almost felt like no one else was left in B group.

Well Hotbrakes, I hope we can link up at a track day or two. We all need to get together and have a nice ride sometime on the weekend also. I need to finally head done your way and tag along for some of those interesting roads you know so well. I'll drag Glockem down with me!!

Yeah, I have some thoughts.... why am I married with kids

Seriously, I appreciate you posting things like this as someday I'm sure it will work out. As it stands, my brownie points / track day allowances are pretty much used up. The other issue for me is vacation for non-weekend events. Maybe someday I'll meet a few of you out there, never ridden on SP to this point however.

I spotted and rode beside a nice silver VFR on Oceanview Ave in Norfolk, VA this morning... looked like a 2003. I motioned for the guy to pull over so we could talk for a min but he never did... are you on here bud?

I cry every time I walk into the garage and don't see the 51 anymore. however, I have fallen head over heals for this new CBR1krr. I just finished adding some goodies to it, and it is a dream to ride.

I am currently looking at picking up a cbr600rr to build for the track. I want to come back to NESBA.

Guys, b/c of how that one indian was riding simply suggests the quality of the MARC group and its CR riders. CR's should have picked this guy out from the group easily, and worked with him. Having a rider crossing all over the place, off race line, not full throttle, etc, is bad. I don't mind if someone is slow, as the track is where you need to push yourself and learn your bike and your ability. You as a member or other rider have the responsibility to go tell one of the CR's about a dangerous rider. Don't feel bad about doing that and pointing them out to the CR's.
