My name is Glenn Brown, I have only been riding about five months. I bought an '81 CBX last summer and have never had so much fun! I would like to take some longer trips, but didn't think the CBX was ideal for that. I didn't want to put a lot of miles on it, since it's almost a collector's item. I decided that a VFR would be perfect for me and found a really nice '04 which I will take possession of in two days. Can't wait!!

Hi Glenn and welcome to the group. Congrats on your new aquisition. Be sure to take time to learn your new bike. I am not familiar with the CBX, but I am sure the VFR is different enough that you will want to take the time to learn the bikes character and differences between the two. Enjoy teh VFR, they are fun bikes.

I am in Odessa, Texas. In the middle of the prairie (really desert). However, we have mountains about 150 miles south, which I hope to take the VFR to!

Welcome. A CBX, cool. That is already a collectors item in my book. In Canada you could register it as a Collector bike. The VFR will be much lighter, better handling, brakes etc. If you can handle the CBX the VFR will be much easier to ride. You will be amazed how much better the VFR is in corners. Generally probably pretty similar in the power area from what I can recollect of the CBX. But like VMAN38 says take it easy, while the VFR is very forgiving it still has enough to get you in trouble.
