    Hello all,
New guy here. Just purchased a corbin seat for my 03 VFR. After hearing a llot of negative feedback on the Corbins it makes me wonder if I should of gone with something else but they are the only ones with the backrest which I wanted for my kids. Gives me a little more peace of mind. Anyway, got the seat and taken it out a few times.....so far I hate it! It's hard and seems to move me up and back from the handle bars. I have never lost circulation in my throttle wrist before but I did with this seat. It puts me in a totally different riding position. Do I just need to give it time to break in? Or put it back on E-bay? PLease help if you have info. Buy the way, love this forum...lot's of great info.

Well, the Corbin is harder IMO than the Sargent or the stock seat. It is also heavier and appears sturdier. It is my opinion that it probably will never wear out. But, given the choice when I had all 3 at hand, I chose the Sargent every time except when I was trying to rack up miles on the Corbin for my review of it. So, here are some options: 1. Keep trying it and get used to it 2. Sell it on fleabay and look for a sargent then put a topbox with backrest on it 3. make some kind of custom seat and backrest. Those are not all your options, but a few for your consideration. Me and most of the guys I have ridden with use sargent if we have custom seats at all. They are firmer than stock, but not like the corbin. I typed a review of them on here somewhere... if your search for seat comparo it should pop up...

i have a sargent seat on my vfr, but i had a corbin when i had my ninja. corbin says to give it 1500-2000 miles for it to contour to your body. in my experience, it did get better as time went by. i would say if you still don't like it after the break-in period, then maybe consider selling it. good luck

What's the prices for the Sargent & Corbin respectively? I see the Sargent on Sporttourer.com for $350 approx, can you get any cheaper besides ebay?

I have heard that you either have a Corbin butt (wide), or a Sargent butt (narrow).
I am thickly, and can tell you that the Corbin comes to you over time. It is hard, and will remain hard as it shapes it's self to you. It is a good thing for the long haul.
The pocket of the seat is rearward, lending a sporty position (lower center of gravity). I would guess that you lost circulation due to having too much weight on your hands, and holding the throttle too tightly.
There are a lot of folks on this forum that will delight in telling you how to ride.
    Welcome, and be safe.

Thanks for your advice guys, greatly appreciated. I think I will try the 1500 mile break in as I have heard from various sites and see how it goes. I will keep you posted. As for the circulation in wrist...I know, use your core to support yuo not your arms. Will keep trying. Also I have heard before that the Corbin is better fot "larger riders". I am 6' 180lbs so I guess that's average. We'll see.
    - As for Zoober I waited for months on Ebay to see if one would pop up, and when it did I paid $350 for seat and backrest. About $700 right from Corbin for both I think.

The Sargent for me was a 100% better thank stock. As was stated, it really depends on one's body, and personal preference, as some folks swear by Corbins. Personally to me, it feel as if I am riding on a cinder block when I am on a Corbin. I think the only way my boney :ass: could get used to it is if I stuffed my pants with Charmin....but then I would have to take out my sock to make room...then how would I pick up :stripper:

    Hmmmm...

Just a quick update... I have put around 1500 kms on the new Corbin seat and I have to admit it is much, much better. I am very glad I did not give up on it. So for me anyway, ended up being a great investment that just keeps getting better everytime I sit in it. Having the back rest is sure handy too for the kids, plus being able to tie gear to it. Very happy camper now!

Thanks for the follow-up. Not that it matters now, but the Corbin on the SV650 was also very weird for a while; it reminded me of sitting on an old Ford tractor. It has proven to be a good addition over time, though. Now if I could just find a remedy for age and gravity...
