I have Verizon & I'm thinking iphone is a couple years away.
my blackberry is kinda old school & it's geting to be time to upgrade.

Buy the Droid & don't buy a GPS?

    what do you think?

    Works but..

The GPS function in my Moto Droid works nicely, Google 3D turn by turn directions, voice activated GPS search, "car mode" GPS screen with the right mount, etc.

But on the bike in the sun it gets really hot quickly. I'm worried long term exposure is going to cause problems. I still haven't figured out a decent mount system for it either, there appear to be only universal style mounts. Battery life is pretty short with GPS on, only a few hours for mine but if you have a power supply on the bike it shouldn't matter.

I got the Moto Droid a month ago and it does come in handy with the Google maps feature. Still haven't used or set it up to act as a GPS though. Are the maps actually stored in the phone so if you were in the middle of nowhere far from a cell tower, the phone can still GPS you around?
