Hiya all. I guess to start. I'm 43 and last year finally got back on two wheels. I was 19 when I last had a bike. I'm not your average guy, was a Ford mechanic for 15 years, taught some. Married three times (this one rocks!) and I'm Transgendered. Cool hu. I started with a 71 CL350. Still got it too. Way fun to ride round town. Not the freeway. My dad shortly after "let me ride" his 78 CB750F. He's 75 and just had a strock. I don't think he'll be wanting it back. God I love the 750. I picked up an 85 700 interceptor in February. Paid way to much for it, but what the hell. The carbs not only needed an overhaul, but the last nimrod lost parts and hooked the fuel up to the vent hose. I have got it running. Now for the fork seals and tires. Did take it on the road in front of the house. I don't think I've felt acceleration quite as brutal before, and I only took it to 6,000 rpm. Well, guess that's it. If ya wanna know more, ask. Thanks, Shaun.
Welcome to the site, the old VF's and CB's are great bikes, I've had a few myself including the '78 F. Plenty of knowledgeable people here if you need some tech questions answered. :thumb:
I thought it was a legit question. Obviously the OP has no prob putting it out there, and BB just asks the question we are all wondering in his delightfully tactful way...
You may wonder, I wasn't. But with that avatar, Mexico, Brokeback Mountain, I think we're all wondering...Anything you want to share??? Not there's anything wrong with that.
im sure hes heard worse, i love the old ss hondas i had a 82 750f for a long time was my 4th bike back in the 90s, if you want acceleration come to tulsa i will throw you on the busa hahahahaah things a beast.. but yeah the double v deuce makes a good amount of torque as well good for the beginnner to the top riders... when you get that thing in good runnin order you wont be dissapointed at all.. great for the around town thats for sure hope you enjoy your time here and if you have a q ask it we will get to it pretty fast
The 85 700 is rumored to have problems. Well, more then rumored. Those bikes have an upper oiling problem. You will see talk of it in all the 1st gen threads if you look... and you should. There is supposed fixes, but I didn't have mine long enuff to see a problem or try to fix it. Google about it and you will see tho. I loved my 85 700 and only sold it because some close freinds helped me get a newer bike ( I am happier with it , but not saying your bike is bad ). If not I would still have my 85 700, but if I still had it I would be looking at addressing the eventuality of the upper oiling problem. As far as the trans gender thing goes, I couldn't care less. Welcome aboard. P.S. Dont sweat BadBilly. He is vfrworlds resident evil, but sometimes has usefull tech/riding advice if you get passed the insults.
Hey I came back to visit this thread for a reason... and it wasnt to compliment capn's humour ^^^, altho its welcome. You said you didnt get it over 6k? Dude, that bike builds massive power around 7-9 k. Get it running right and open it up, you will shit yourself. I had one. It wont power wheelie on accident or anything, but it is plenty faster then you think if you get it into the upper rpms. -C
Reggie, I thought what happens in Mexico stays in Mexico? You and Long are SUCH a tease! I thought you both really cared. out:
Welcome aboard! I couldn't care less about your plumbing, but I have to admit that I'm as curious as BadBilly. And I admire you for not caring what people think. And depending on which way you went, perhaps you no longer have to worry about balls-to-tank crunch. The glass is half full, dude(?)! Half full! P.S. Redheaded Step Child? Does this mean you're also a ginger? A ginger transgender? That's some potent combination there!
I'm a red head (well aleast before it went blond) and as you can see so is the 700. Do I have anger problems? No me, I'm a sweety. I SAID I'M SWEETY!!!! Still got the junk. The wife wont let me get rid if it. You can ask anything as long as your not a dick. Hows this for a biker club "new boobs and Jap steel" ? LOL
This shit right here is bound to have at least two thirds of the membership here biting holes in their pillows .............. This is seriously funny stuff.
I'm not sure this train is gonna stay on the track but I'm going back to my real job for a few days so hopefully the pennies on the track don't make it jump off too bad...
OK, someone has to say it.... ** THIS POST IS USELESS WITHOUT PICTURES! ** Am I out of line here? (J/K!!!)
