I damaged a part of the fairing. After the reperation I gave the painter the parts together with the color code R158P. After two attempts are the parts still in diffent in colors. The original painted parts are in bright pealr red and the repainted parts are more dusty without any pearl. Do anybody has a solution how to find the rght color so I again can get a one colored bike without the need of repainting the whole bike?

I recently went to Sherwin Williams Automotive paint store. They had a whole deck of chips for each color. In other words, they had a deck of around 100 or so colors just for red. If you took your bike or piece of plastic to a good automotive paint store, they should be able to match you up.

There's a special basecoat paint that goes along with that R158P Red Pearl paint Soren. Did your painter spray that special basecoat paint first before he layed down the Red Pearl paint?

You can get that factory R158P Red Pearl paint and the special basecoat paint that you'll need at Color Rite.
Here's the link>>> Motorcycle Paint :: Touch Up, Aerosol & Refinish Paint - ColorRite

Just a little FYI for you Soren. I had a '97 VFR750 that had broken mid fairing panels and a damaged top panel on it when I bought it. I was able to repair one of the mid panels and the top panel, but I ended up having to buy a brand new mid panel for the left side and a new seat cowl as well. When I took my panels in for paint the painter at the shop told me that he'd worked with the R158P Red Pearl paint before and that he'd had a hard time getting a perfect color match with sun faded stock panels. So I just ended up having the whole bike repainted.

Here's to hoping you have better Luck with your bike. Good Luck Soren.

    Hi Stoshmonster,

Thank you very much for the answer. The original color is in very good shape with hardly no shaded areas if any. I called the Danish Honda-importer and they recomended paint from Dupont, which I can get here in Denmark - I do not think I can get the Color Rite in the country. I also found a painter who has experience in painting with the Dupont products - so tomorrow I will take a ride to the painter and have a talk. Wish me luck:)

As a point of reference, I replaced a few of my panels over the years, and the brand new Honda parts do not match! I bought the upper left, upper right, and center for the front fairing, and the center is a slightly different shade. *I* see it, but most folks don't.

Don't be toooo hard on the guy if even Honda can't get it right.
