directly above the exhaust ports is a hole with 2 bolt holes. are they egr ports or oil line ports? my 91 doesn't have this and there is a worry if they are oil line ports that the engine will be fried. I'll try to get a pic up for people to see the difference.

Those are ports for the PAIR system you dont have. Short answer = block them, there will be no issues.
For emissions reasons, US models at least, have an air pump driven by engine vacuum, that injects air into the exhaust, diluting it, and making it meet the emmission standards. Kinda cheating, if you ask me, as the same amount of pollutants are being made, whether its diluted or not, but thats just me. Our Canadian VFRs did not have it. Mine was an import, and I ripped that shit off as soon as I had the chance. PAIR stands for Pulsed Air Injection somethingorother. I can post or e-mail a picture of mine, and how I capped it off, but I cut off the lines, and used the end fittings, which you may not have.

BTW: where in Ontario are you located?
I'm having a wrench day at my place on Sunday (June 6) in Brantford. Mainly for Hawks, but VFRs are also well represented, and you can see the port parts firsthand. Squirrelman can vouch for me, I dont bite.

Wait.....did I just use SM as a reference???? ooops (j/k)

I could be wrong but the ports are located in the front head are they not?

She's referring to the injection ports for the PAIR system. On US models it is just slightly above the exhaust port, all the exhaust ports, so that would mean both front and rear heads.
Her bike is a no US bike, and the replacement rear head she is putting on came from a US bike.
US or not, all the heads all have the casting 'boss'. The US models have the ports machined in.
Vacuum power to run both PAIR pumps (1 for rear cylinders, 1 for front) comes from #1 and #4 cylinders if I remember right.
