My '04 is having a weird issue with the fuel pump..? When I turn the key to ON and the emergency stop kill switch is OFF, the fuel pump doesn't immediately prime/make the whir noise. It takes longer, around 3-5 seconds longer for the FI light to come on and for the fuel pump to start. I did a quick search in this forum and did not see a similar problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks!

JUST what the heck would you do with those few seconds anyway, Bunky ??

Probably electrical, like most Honda difficulties.....dirty contacts somewhere or a bad ground ?

    Nothing to worry about.............
    ..........yet.

When you turn the ignition switch to ON and the kill switch is set to OFF, the pump should not activate at all.

If I have the key set to ON, and I flip the kill switch ON/OFF, the pump doesn't immediately come on when the switch is in the right position. The pump used to always activate when the kill switch was pushed down closest to the start button.

I'll play around tomorrow and see if the "wait time" is uniform.

My 2006 was doing that. Found that the kill switch was sticking in the housing.

Well. I can't reproduce the problem today. I turned the key and flipped the kill switch in all of the different combinations and the pump kicked in immediately every time. I'll look into my kill switch to make sure it is working if this happens again.

    Thanks for the input, everyone.

Root cause found: Sticky kill switch, same issue as Dennis.

    Thanks all.

Could be your fuel pump relay.

Could still be a kill switch issue. Try taking the housing apart and removing the switch. An interesting note, in the manual (for my '06 anyways) it says to use the kill switch for emergency only.
