my 84 vf700f is wearing down the front tire considerably more on 1 side. it doesnt vibrate and seems to track straight. is there some way i can align the front tire so it wont wear down on the one side? the wheel bearing is good in it.

have you checked your front fork air pressures? I am not sure with the 84 700f, but my 86 vf500 has two black caps on top of the forks with air valves underneath to adjust the fork compression, if one is lower than the other it could possibly make it ride sideways.

not sure if that will fix it but just a thought...

ill have to check that out when i get a chance. im about due for new tires anyways.so its going to be hard to tell if it helps. ill probably do that and spray paint the tire white to see where its wearing down.

Since many roads are crowned for drainage and slope slightly to the right, tyres naturally wear down more on the left side.

Spray paint ??? Tyre rubber compounds are not compatible with spray paint chemicals, so not advisable.

Check rear wheel alignment, should be plenty of threads on this, the bike needs to track strait, the alignment marks can be off.

i have the exact same problem with my 85. the left side of the tire is crazy chopped and wore down. i noticed though there is a difference in the forks. the left side fork has the word "track" marked on it with an adjustable dial 1-4 i figgured it must be to adjust the dampening but the other side has no adjustment and there is no hose or tube to equalize pressure between the two. also noticed behind the dial there is a sort of plunger that afixes to the caliper mounting bracket. but again not on the other side. i do not understand why they would do that what would be the purpouse of having an adjustable caliper on one side and not the other when there is only one tire? lol but maybe the left brake is hanging up and causing the problem? does anyone know? it's all speculation on my part
