    and only $230!
buttons look a little small to operate with gloves on.
god know the quality. even though it says "meets or exceeds DOT standards"
    i'd be a little cautious

My local parts guy said the Vega Bluetooth comes back for replacement more than any other helmet he sells. Get a Nolan or just use a ChatterBox.

    KC-10 FE out...

A phone and a motorcycle? Sounds like a good way to get distracted and killed.

    Just my opinion.

My first helmet was a Vega, back when they were $50 specials. Crappy piece o shit just barely enough to cover my dome. I've seen some of their newer ones and their fit and finish looks better, seems they've upped the quality a bit. Can't say I've worn one or had any experience with even seeing this particular one. IMO I'd get a quality helmet first and worry about the toys second. It's pretty quick and easy to install wired headphones into your helmet, or a bluetooth unit.

cool thx guys. the sunshades on the vegas look very cool though. does any other manufacture offer similar stuff?

read it somewhere else online that most ppl think the vega bluetooth is useless over 55mph. but everyone llikes the shades

I've been looking at the Vemar Jaino Modular with Bluethoot but at 5 Ben's the price is a little out of reach at the moment. I don't know if they are any good but from what i have research they seem to be.
Important note: pull over and stop to talk to people on the phone

tuga: definitely. i actually liked the sun shield more than the bluetooth.

found another helmet with sun shield in hjc is-max. around the same price range without the bluetooth though.

I never really considered buying an HJC, but I did check out the is-max with the built-in sun shade. I tried one on in store, but that's as far as I got. The optics on the sun shade are really bad. The mechanism to raise/lower the shade seems awkward and flimsy. In fact the whole thing felt like a kid's toy.

I've been using the IS-16 for a bit now. It has a slightly newer design to the whole sunshade thing. The clarity of the sun shade is better than the main visor and operating it is simple ONCE you get use to it. It does take some muscle memory to get to it in one smooth shot. Re the thread topic, this HJC as with my others are fully setup to take an aftermarket bluetooth setup. I think, don't quote me but I think that HJC and Chatterbox work together on designs.

I'll be getting a Nolan N 103 or equiv once I wear out the IS-16.

It may well have been the IS-16 I tried on. It's a current model on the shelf at a local shop. I wasn't aware they had more than one model with the built-in shade. I think the sunshade is an awesome idea, I just don't like how it's implemented. A simple lever or dial on the side of the helmet would be far better than the spring-loaded sliding mechanism they use. When I slid it down it hit my nose before locking into place. I think I would prefer the double visor system like the Gmax GM68s uses. I probably didn't give it a fair chance, it may be a great helmet for the price, but my first impression was to put it down and move on to the next helmet.

I say get the lid you want and outfit it with some kind of Bluetooth system. Better yet, if you like the lid you have...spend just a few extra $'s and get some kind of Bluetooth system. I have a Cardo Scala Rider Q2 and I find it quite usable...not perfect but pretty darn good.

I just bought the Nolan n103 for the new Scala Rider G4's we just bought. It has the flip down sun shield, as does my Schuberth C-2 and my wife's Caberg. I've gotten so used to them that I only look at helmets that have the sun shield now. LOL We haven't had the chance to really try out the Scala Riders yet but it really looks like they are the cat's a$$.

    Broosh, you like your Q2?

    The G4's look very nice.

My Q2 works very well for placing and receiving calls. No one believes that I'm atop of a motorcycle even with my visor up. The music is in mono...(something I didn't realize before purchasing)...but some music is better than none. I pump my GPS audio (directions and MP3's) through an FM transmitter and I like feeding my brain with CBC radio up here in Canada so I find the FM radio very useful. I ride alone 99.99999999999% of the time so I haven't used the intercom feature with anyone.

Let us know how you like the G4 system...I, for one, am curious!!

I've had my O'Neal Fastrack for over a year & it has served me well with only a few issues. First and foremost, the number one reason for buying this helmet, is for music. Sure you can call me but all that yakkity yak yak is killing my ride joy so STFU. Read reviews from owners of the helmet & most people who bought this helmet will says it is for music, second is rider to passenger comm and a distant 3rd would be phone calls.

The music & GPS part of it is great. I linked it to my Bberry, iPhone & Garmin with no problem. GPS is great cuz the little voice talks OVER the music just like if you were in a car so no interupting my tunes. Music bumps loud & clear until I hit 85. I can still hear it but if Pandora selects a song I've never heard before, I can hear the beat but not "all" the words. Phone calls are ok as long as you're doing less the 50mph but where is that possible? After 55mph you can forget about being clearing heard and I live in LA so I cruise between 70 & 85. Although both sides have speakers & one can be removed for "legal" reasons, if they were a little better quality, I'm sure every word would come through crystal clear. My biggest issue is with the padding. After about 1.5 hrs my forehead starts THROBBING and that seems to be a common issue. But after a 30 minute break everything is peachy. The button is easy to use even with my big ole thick winter gloves.

I talked to the guys at O'neal and according to him, they spent all last year reading reviews from people who have the Fastrack and worked very hard to improve what everydody complained about. The new Tirade Bluetooth Helmet dropped last week and is said to be a drastic improvment. I'm getting mine on July 9th & will let you guys know how it is.

With a new helmet I'll be able to go to Radio Shack and experiment on changing out & improving the speakers just in case the new one suck.

When I ride I always want to hear the ENGINE.

When I see a video of a bike going down a road, or around the track I just want to hear THE ENGINE. NOT any music.

Whoever designed that O'Neal Tirade had a good look at a Bell Star, every vent and contour line is almost the same. I wonder if Bell makes them or if it's just a design rip-off. Reminds me of my THH TS-40.... you could easily mistake it for a Shoei RF-1000.... until you put it on.

Oh yeah? Which one of these vids are more annoying? Even with that crappy ass music, a ride with a soundtrack is more enjoyable.
