We have a 1986 VF500F Interceptor. We just put a new (used) cdi box into it. We finally got it running now. We are having a problem with the bike idling too fast. It will not idle below 3,000 RPM. Does anyone know how we can turn this down? This is driving us nuts lol!

    Thanks so much!!

The idle adjustment screw is on the right side of the bike, front of and below the tank. Kinda hard to see. Turn it counterclockwise to lower idle speed.

Orion makes a good point. But assuming you know the choke is off, adjust the idle. Here's the excerpt from the Clymer's manual...

    Table 10 says 1300 +/- 100rpm, BTW.

i might assume, the bike has been sitting, and the low speed jets are plugged. someone has then run the idle speed screw in enough to make it idle, 3k, but lowering it, it will stall.
unscrewing the speed screw, wont cure the problem. I would also assume, you simply need to clean the carbs, and return the idle speed screw to its original setting.
