    Hey guys and gals!

New to the site, have had VFRs over the years. Am looking at another one presently, and wanted you guys perspective.

Number 1, I will be getting hard bags for the bike, should I choose to get it. I like the looks of the Honda bags, over the more general use Givis. How do the Honda bags mount? What I am asking is, do the Honda bags come off with a key or lever, or do they require tools to remove?

Then, about the last gen 800. What are the goods and bads about it? I havce not ridden one. My reference is the 90 - 93 model, the 94 - 96 model, and the 98 -02 model. Each time, these got a little better. Is this true about the last gen (even though the thing got V-tec, and lost it's gear driven cams)?

Thanks everyone, and look forward to your replies and input.

    Welcome!

    :welcome:

From my little 6th generation experience (07, compared next to an 04) it seems like as the years have gone by there have really only been changes in the finish (colors, clear turn signals). But again I'm new with the 6th gen bikes so maybe another smarter VFRW guy can fill you in more.

Only the 6th gen has the factory hard bags that look well integrated. I like the 5th gen better but I am biased since I have one. Most of the guys I know have 6th gens and they basically feel like the same bike but a little more refined. I don't notice a big difference in that whole vtec brouhaha except I do know that your valve checks are more of a pia and then cost more... Parts are more easily available due to the long run of the 6th gen, though.

Thanks guys for all the insight. I have always had a soft spot for the VFR. Little different than the others. Sounds really good. AND, I can't afford an NR 750!

    =)

Look forward to getting better educated on the bags, so I can understand better.

    How they attach/detach? yada yada.
