I know some say no way , but can someone say for sure why ??? (please explain) Is it the engine cases or the trans shaft that doesn`t except the front gear. Looking at the side of the engine , the shaft peice on the side of the engine looks like it just bolts on & can be removed. I know part numbers are different between models but i think Honda does that to keep the parts counter guys from getting creative. I`d love to see the 2 sitting next to each other to say for sure it won`t work. (unless it`s been posted before)

    Hey Guys

When I was rebuilding my VF700F bike I saw that I had a ruined engine block. So I bought one on ebay just the block. When I was putting together the engine I saw that this was a block from a VF700C bike that is with a shaft.Only diffrience on these two blocks are three mounting holes to hold the countershaft and one mounting hole for the water pump.My bike runs fine.

    Best regards

    Gunnar

Wow great to know this , as the 83 VF750f has a small problem with the engine (idler gear for starter to clucth mount that the pin rides in is broken in 1/2 & don`t have the piece) so if i had to go that deep into it & tear the whole block apart , it might be as easy to replace the whole block. (unless someone knows of an easy fix or has done the repair) this has been discussed on another bourd but not in detail or shown when done. (clock say 23,000 but who knows & would like to keep it a numbers matching bike if it still is)

    Hey

There is only one problem if you are going to change the block. Then it means you need to change booth upper and lower case then you will need new bearings for the crankshaft.I have heard that it is pretty hard getting them.So check that before you begin.

    Best regards

New bearings are only NEEDED if the old ones are bad. I reused the bearings in mine when I switched out the crank from my parts engine. I had $0 in this project beyond the purchase price of the bike. I sealed the crankcase halves and side covers with Hondabond.

I should add that it is very important to check the oil clearances on all bearingsm new or old.
