    Hi all

I know this question has probably been asked before but.............

I am currently running macadam 100x on my 1990 model, and need to replace the rear in the very near future (180/55/17). While pretty happy with their performance, I would like to get a little more life from the rear.

Will the pilot rd give me a few extra km's, and if so is the price jump worth it?

Anyone out there who has experience with both models?

    Thanks

I believe the Macadam is a pretty hard tyre, it seems to be a touring tyre whereas the Pilot Road is a Sport/Touring tyre. The Road should have more grip, but wouldn't last as long.

I had a Pilot Road on last year but it copped a puncture by a stone that also managed to cut through one of the belts in the tyre. End result: I needed a new tyre. :frown: I was in a country town at the time, the only suitable tyre that the bike shop had was a Macadam 100. It's been ok, but when the time comes to replace I'll be getting a Pilot Road to go with the Pilot Power on the front.

    Thanks Davidvfr

I am getting quite a bit of scalloping and substantially more wear in the middle of the tyre on the rear (might just need to hit a few more corners?!). Be interested to hear how yours is going.

I had a look at the Michelin website and it indicates that the pilot rd has better durability. The macadam scores 4/5 while the pilot rd gets 5/5.

I think I will get some price comparisons and take it from there.

    cheers

Mine also has much more wear in the middle, 50-60km of freeway for my commute to work is to blame.
