I am about to do a coolant flush/replacement on my VFR 750FS.Both the Haynes and Clymer manuals talk about carefully opening the radiator cap and filling rad to neck, then filling reserve bottle. Nowhere is there any mention of removing the "cockpit" or centre fairing first to gain access to the radiator cap.Is this required, as there is quite a bit involved in this. It just seems impossible to access/fill radiator without the possibility of spilling coolant on the fairing. Thanks!

You're going to have to remove whatever is in the way, or if you have a long narrow neck funnel that will reach down to the filler point. Just make sure the engine is cool before removing the rad cap.

I think you will need to remove the lower on the left side to get at the drain plug on the water pump as well.

Pour slow and carefully...do the best you can. If you spill just rinse it off with a garden hose. Not very often you can do a coolant change and not spill a bit. Doesn't seem to hurt anything.

Yes, I have all panels, except "cockpit" fairing removed.
