Ive got just over 550 miles on mine. It is so fast and smooth. I hate pushing it around the garage because it is heavy compared to either my RC 51 (lovingly known as the pig) or Superhawk. I think it is faster than both the V twin bikes and also faster than my 900RR that I used to have and will be all day comfortable. Ive done 600 mile days on the Superhawk, but Im pretty whipped at the end of the day, time will tell how this bike is for long distances. The tank isnt an issue for me, my reserves starts flashing around 150 miles, it could go about 170miles or so before Id start getting really nervous, Im usually ready for a bottle of water every 150 miles or so. Im getting 39mpg.
Ive never ridden a 6th gen but Ive pushed one around the stealers floor and it felt heavy too, much heavier than the Superhawk or RC. The VFR 1200 feels pretty nimble once moving and it has rip snorting engine above 5000 rpm. Every time I ride it I come home with a big smile on my face, it is a great bike. I ordered the hard bags this Saturday and a hugger, should be here in about a week, it will be a sweet setup! It has almost 50hp more than a 6th gen, I thought about getting a leftover 6th gen but to be honest Im glad I got the new VFR 1200.

I have the manua on the floor. I had a few people look at it, but none seriously. I was expecting it to not last more than a day or two.

    time will tell.

for the record, i totally love it.

Logged just under 4000 miles on mine and it continues to impress just got my hard bags last saturday so no more back pack. i think as people ride this bike impressions will change it is a true sport/tourer well worthy of the VRF name. It will stomp the 6th gen on any road any time.

Mr. Obvious :Hi thanks for calling the Mr Obvious show your speaking to Mr obvious
Glenn: Hi my name is Glenn .Long time listener first time caller...
    Mr. Obvious: Go ahead caller.
Glenn: Yeah I have a 2010 VFR 1200 and my Friend has a 6th Gen 800cc VFR which is faster?
Mr. ObviousActually the 2010 VFR is 1237 cc but whose is counting.Anyhow the VFR 1200 has 172 HP and the 6th gen has 110 that's a difference of about 62 hp and 400cc so I would have to say the VFR1200.
Glenn:So what your saying is my VFR1200 has a lot more HP and CC?
Mr. ObviousYes caller and the VFR doesn't weight that much more then your friends 6th gen.which means it's a lot more powerful and faster..
Glenn: Huh never made the connection!

Yeah ok its obvious, but its like this i loved my RWB sixth gen.I ibought it for the same exact reasons i got the 1200 I wanted a competent sport bike with touring capability.
Really it is all about the handling, stability breaking cornering emergency stopping ect... oh and the stomp on it power of a v-4. the flaming around the site like the 1200 is an old ladies bike or that HONDA ignored the VFR's racing roots is just bull. The 1200 is a 150hp sport bike with bags and it will out handle every bike in the class GO HONDA

I rode one while my bike was getting the 600 mile service .No doubt they are fast, handle and break, but besides the power there isn't much I like about the bike.Single head light yuck!
how about the single swing arm.Oh wait you can't see it because that big stupid exhaust is in the way.

Big Valley Honda in Reno had 2 deposits before they hit the floor.
    Neither buyer could get financed.

There are 2 pristine VFR 1200s on the floor.

Congratulations on your first bike. I am thinking about duct taping one of those mega LED flashlights to the front of my bike so that I can see at night. Right now what I am doing about the muffler is saving up my money and collecting alumimum cans to buy a more attractive model. In the interim I took some white shoe polish and wrote on both sides of the fairing, "Hey asshole!! My bike has a single side swing arm." Until I collect some more aluminum cans I may wash off that shoe polish and go and get me one of them plastic signs from Moe's sign shop down the street from my friend Harry's place.

IMO what those stupids at Honda should have done is covered up that stupid drive shaft with that ugly muffler so I wouldn't have to go dumpster diving every night. The other night I was out there minding my own business in an alley where there are lots of cans and some Cub Scouts started hassling me telling me that the alley was thier hood. Normaly I would have just beat the crap out of one or two but there were about ten of the little suckers. So on top of everything else, Now I am paying for Kung Foo lessons.

    Life is shit.

I like the motor! Everything else? Not so much. Just one man's opinion.

P.S. I'm thinking that chromed looking toaster oven that is apparently the exhaust might be bearable if it were flat black so it didn't bling you to death when you looked at it.

My apologies. I thought you were engaging in some satire by repeating what has been said over and over. Anyway, tonight I am gonna kick some Cub Scout ass. Those cans are mine!

I'd ride one given the chance & the biggest reason I didn't look at one (and got The Knight Saber instead) was the price.

I too feel that if a bike with 170 horses *can't* take a 110 hp ride then there's an issue with weight (and I mean a BIG issue) or something to that effect. That said the range issue does make me scratch my head a bit. From what Reg posted it seems like a great ride, but he didn't get the chance to flog it.

Ah well...let's see how the model sells (and if Honda drops the price!)

Oddly enough have just read a Review in my latest copy UK BiKE Magazine where they were looking at the question of how far Sport Tourers have come and when tested against a full range of older but still pristine Superbikes they lapped faster on the VFR1200 than anything prior to the '04 zx-10r.

    VFR1200 BIKE Tested against:

    RD350LC
    GPZ900R '85
    RC30
    CBR900R '96
    R1 '99
    ZX-10r '04
    R1 current

it's a sign drewl, there are 2 of us and we want to take a trip across the US. I think Honda needs to take note of that and have you and I give those bikes a cross country test...

    what are the chances?

One fella I heard about on another forum is using his bags to transport an entire troupe of midget wrestlers. Another guy brings along a propane deepfryer and a half a sack of Yukon Gold spuds to satisfy his craving for on the road Jo-jos. I think somebody ought to write Honda and let em know that at least one bag shoud be used a a fuel reserve tank.
