    hi folks

I just joined vfr world today. I own a 2000 vfr 800 pearl yellow in color.
The bike has a few modifications but not too many. It has a jardine carbon fibre slip-on that looks and sounds great. I use the gen-mar bar risers, it helps my wrists when I am sitting 10-12 hrs. in the saddle. I installed a 45 litre top box which is great since it locks to the bike and it holds 2 full-face helmets. A zero gravity double bubble widshield as well.
This summer July 11th. 06 I was hit by 2 large cars, I spent 23 days in the hospital recovering from my injuries. I had 8 ribs broken a puntured lung, lacerated kidney and liver, and a broken humerus. The pain was so bad they gave me an epideral. I was always getting shots every 3 hours of morphine since the pain was so severe. I could not move my wrist and it was later found out through nerve conduction testing that I have the radial nerve either broken or pinched. I will be going under surgery in less then 10 days just before Christmas. So I know what I want for Christmas, the use of my left arm and hand. Otherwise I will not be able to ride again, unless I buy an automatic scooter. The vfr was a great bike and I chose yellow fo safety reasons, imagine if I had, had black maybe I would have been killed.
So ride safe new friends and never never ever let car drivers wave you out of a driveway or lane that is how I almost lost my life.

Hey Hawgydawg, all the best from your VFR bretheren out here! What a crappy time of year (if there really is a good time) to be down and out. I'm glad that you didn't become a statistic and that you haven't turned on the bike as many do.

You will recover and ride again with some good Canadian medecine!

I grew up in Huntsville from 1972 till 1995 when I hit the road for supposed greener pastures. That trek continues but I get back home a couple of times a year to see family and friends. If you are looking to chat, hit me with a PM and I will send you my e-mail address.

    Regards
    Brad Taylor

Godspeed Hawgy, we'll be crossing our fingers and toes for a very successful outcome in your surgery. Please keep us posted.

And I know I reflect on my riding everytime I see a post like this. Be careful out there my friends! It's only a fun sport if you keep both wheels on the ground.

Concentrate on healing. I've broken my back twice!! (Didn't do it good enough first time.)

I was told thst I wouldn't survive, and then I would never walk again. Fooled them.

It's going to be a tough go, but do your rehab and concentrate on healing yourself.

The mind can do incredible things!

    Best of luck!
