    Hi all, my first post!

So I tipped the bike over in November (...) and have had it at a repair shop the last 6 months for repairs and storing for winter. Earlier in May it stopped snowing and I got it back out. But I returned it and complained that the instrument cover wasn't correctly installed. So they ordered (or claimed to order) new cowl brackets from Belgium and finally today it was done.

But I still don't think it's good. What do you think, is this normal? The plastic covers over parts of the tachometer and indicator lights. And in the right part it's not aligned and you can push it in 0.5 cm. Basically it looks like when I returned it.

    Thanks for your replies,

I suspect that more than the brackets was tweaked. Its not unusual for 3 dimensional space problems to confound repair shops. I would say your only option would be take this on yourself and makes some shims to push it back into place, or live with it. It appears that everything is visible.

Yeah I think you're right, Africord. I don't want to use that repair shop again if I don't have to, they seem kinda sloppy I think. I should have used a authorized Honda dealer to do the repairs I guess.

It doesn't look over complicated so maybe I'll take it apart and have a look once it stops raining.

    Thanks :)

The first thing you need to worry about is the fact that it's 11pm and not the least bit dark.
Secondly, here's a comparison photo for ya.

it looks modestly low, but that could be the camera angle. Since I just finished replacing my front cowl, and right headlight, let me suggest that if you are moderately mechanical you can pull the whole thing off yourself, but it is a beast simply because they "hide' a couple of the screws that you have to get to. You do have to take the side farings off first. You will need a small ratchet that takes screw driver bits* to get to a couple of the really hard to get to screws (all phillips) It took me two days to pull off the damaged bits and put it back together. If you stare at it for awhile and fuss a bit you can get it all apart. I doubt if you really bent the main brackets there unless you went off at a good speed and hit something hard. In all due honesty, if all of the farings match up, it is unlikely that there is anything bent. If there is no front end shake I would guess everything is sound up front. *Sears, about $8. Ooh, uh you in Europe? Equivalent?

Yes the camera angle contributes a little bit, but not much. If you're interested I fell off the bike doing maybe just 30 km/h, we slammed to the ground and slid some meters.. I broke my right wrist (very painful).. Yes, I'm a noob at riding.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/graastein/IMG_0119.jpg So now all plastics and the brackets and the tank and mirror and brake handles etc is new.

Thanks a lot for the comparison picture,, fancy red lights. I will try to see if I find the time some day to disassemble the front and bend/shim things so that it fits better. Can't get away without at least some repairing yourself on a motorcycle huh!
