I believe it is the case with other bikes that a dip in the power curve like that is a result of EU noise regulations -- trading some power at 3500rpm where the test is mandated allows the bike to just 'squeak' by under the limit. Dunno if that's the case here. Could it be related to the E.P.A. fuel economy testing at a certain rpm? I would guess that it is due to something regulatory like that. Can't see a bike being tuned that way for any other reason. And when an aftermarket tuning device can easily erase that flat spot, Honda certainly could, too, if they wanted to.

Honda tuned the bike that way for emissions according to the reviews I have read. Also the dual tone muffler is for sound requirements.

and now a Leo Vince...which doesn't sound so great, thanks to a couple of incompetents who made the video and sound clip while the bike was cold. It does seem to look good though; short can, and half a high mount.

Edit: still looks good but on another glance, it's not a short can.

Of course, the high mount would make it impossible to fit the hard bags; note how the low mount just manages to squeeze under. Unless you can get the can up under the tail - which will take substantial modification and may in the end be next to impossible - you're not going to get it up any higher than the bottom of the passenger peg. The High Mount version of the Akra (here - SLIP-ON STREET LEGAL HIGH MOUNTED EXHAUST SYSTEM for the HONDA VFR 1200 F (2010) - Akrapovic) looks about the same as the others in that regard. At least it makes most of the rear tire visible.

Perhaps more likely is that a full system will eliminate enough plumbing to allow a bunch of the can to slide under the engine and leave just a little cone hanging out. Anybody seen headers for the new model yet?

Remus is on-board with two different systems, to fit with or without the side cases.

Off topic, but how can they do a full-throttle dyno pull without having the rear strapped down, and not just spin the tire. I looked at some other TBR videos and they are all strapped down. Maybe the mighty VFR1200F broke the straps on the first pull. :)
