Hello everyone, I'm a first time VFR owner, but have had a few other Hondas(70's CB's) and have been riding for a few years. I've been reading this forum for a couple weeks trying to get to know my new ride. I've got almost all my questions answered using the search box, but I haven't found the answer to one question.

What is this switch on the fairing? (Seen above the clutch reservoir in the photo.)

And here's the bike: '93 750(did my screen name give it away?) with about 35k. I've got the cowl, but took it off and I cut a new red "R" to cover the florescent orange.

Thanks for the help so far.

BTW. Do I need to resize pics? Sorry if so, the other forums I use automatically do it. I can take care of it if I need to.

We don't mind the size of the pics. I regularly post much larger ones :) She looks darn good for her age and mileage.

I had something all written up but then noticed the OTHER button that you are talking about on the trim panel. Doesn't look factory to me. I'd say that someone had additional lights wired up or maybe used it for heated gear or a powerlet. I've never been on a 3rd gen so I can't say for certain. Someone will be along soon to say if it is factory or not. If it isn't, about the only way to know is to trace it. If it isn't.... sure was nice of someone to do the work of locating an aux. switch for future accessories :)

I've got a 93 also and don't have that switch. I think that meatloaf is correct, looks aftermarket to me. Is there some other lights on your bike that aren't standard? Or maybe like meatloaf suggested, a powerlet somewhere? Take a look around, it's definitely not standard.

Thanks for the reply meatloaf. I'll take a look and see what's been done. It didn't look like a hack job, so I was figuring it was a stock switch, but I didn't find any reference to it in manuals or through searches. Hopefully there isn't a butchering job in there.

Just a couple clipped wires on the backside. I'm used to being able to see everything on the old bikes, so I'm still intimidated by all the coverings. So far I've only had the right side off to check the coolant overflow.

If they are clipped I would then whatever they were hooked up to probably has been removed. It wouldn't be far fetched to say that whatever it went to was moved to a new bike but the switch was left in place to make things look tidy. Sure looks like it was done right. I'd not worry about it and use it for a future accessory.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I'll have to find out what kind of accessories this will handle/that I'd like to have. Or I might use it to bypass the internal fan switch. I'm just glad to know it's not stock. If not for y'all's answers, I'd be wondering what the PO had removed that was supposed to be there. Thanks.

Welcome aboard, and man oh man is that a peach!
My gen 3 doesn't have that switch either.
Looks like you will need to hook something cool to it.
Guns, nitro, ejector seat, parachute a la dragrace style. Get creative.

Welcome! Kris's 92 was no switch there either, but it's far from stock anymore.

Thanks for the welcomes. Nice bike cebuVFR. I'm in NE Georgia and see there's a Southeast ride coming up. Maybe I'll get to meet some of y'all. I get online a couple times a week to check different forums, so if I don't reply for a day or two, I'm not ignoring anyone.
