A tank bag is a must for me. However, my current bag simply does not mount the way that I want. It fits on my Katana just fine, however there seems to be a lack of mount points for straps. Also, no magnets! Any suggestions on a tankbag that works well without magnets please?

I have this on my 03"

    FG Silverstone Tank Bag II

Yes, it is a magnet mount, but the base is removable and it has straps all included with the bag as well. Great bag, but I bought it specifically as a magnet mount bag, can't speak for the strap mount system. Allthough, there are quite a few mounting points and various things included with the bag, half of which I cut off cause I'm never gonna use em. If you mount it up well, I can't see it coming off or shaking a bit. Good luck and :welcome:

i got my tank protector during one of my travels through Europe.
it's made by a company called Bagster [LINK] it's part of their tank protector / bag system where the bag snaps onto the tank cover without the use of magnets.
it's a little pricey but you can rest assured the bag is going nowhere. and there's no magnets to scratch your paint!

I have an alipnestar tankbag. Held on by very strong magnets. its unzips off the base and turns into a backpack. it will hold a full face helmet inside when expanded. i love it.

If you are looking for something smaller, check out the chase harper stealth bag. its not too big, but also... stealthy!

I just got "The Stack" from Rapid Transit. Check it out if you're looking for a BIG bag, 64 liters total. They make it with straps or magnets, take your pick, I got the strap model. It has a base with straps and suction cups, a big middle section with nice backpack straps, and a smaller expandable top section with lots of little storage pockets. Each section has it's own map pocket. All the sections zip together and you can use any combination of the three. It's really tall with both sections zipped on, I can't imagine ever using it that way. The front strap is a single piece that I looped around the frame neck, the rear straps are just wedged under the seat because there's no place to hook them. I'm going to make some rings to attach the rear straps to the tank mounting bolts, but for now they seem fine just tucked in. They all have quick release buckles for easy removal. The suction cups don't really do much except keep the flaps down. I'm thinking of cutting a hole in the base for refueling because it's easier to just unzip the top sections than to remove the whole base.

Edit: First ride made it apparent that the suction cups are useless. Looks like I'll be putting some magnets inside the flaps to prevent flapping. I also found that left turns make the horn blow, but that probably wouldn't be an issue with the stock bars.
