This is probably an dumb question but I cannot find a manual. 86 vf500 does the transmission get its fluid supply from the engine? Or is there a separate place to add fluid, I have a strange dragging similar to what a automobile wheel bearing off and on sound any Ideas? Its a little hard to explain sorry

oil circulates through the entire engine, trans and clutch included. What kind of dragging? In a particular gear? At what rpm range? What kind of service was done recently? Need more info...

it is constant as the bike is rolling faster as you speed up even when you hold the clutch. I put it on its center stand and hand roll the rear wheel and the chain looks tight for 2 revolutions and gets loose for 1/2 of revolution I just noticed this so is the chain possibly the problem? I just got this bike it was not running it's a 84 magna but it has the interceptor motor off of an 86. I had a vfr700 so I figured why not. So I took the 3 sets of carbs the bike came with put a good set together and fired her up.
