I am wondering what bike magazines VFR riders are reading.

Do you have a favorite mag? Which one do you like and why?

Motorcyclist, Sport Rider, Rider, Motorcycle Consumer News, City Bike -- I think there is another...

Motorcyclist and Motorcycle Consumer News are my favorites.

A few Australian mags. Two Wheels, Australian Road Rider and Motorcycle Trader (which is a classified mag combined with a few articles, news etc.).

As far as a subscription, I only have Motorcyclist. I'll read just about anything about bikes with Brit magazines usually having the best presentation.

I'll read cycle world on occasion, usually when one of the other crew members leaves a copy on the plane, but as a general rule, I can't stand it. Their staff seem to be a bunch of (quoting Mo Howard here) "hoity-toity snobs". The way I see that mag is the writing staff is saying "look at us common folk, we ride & get paid for it". That added to the fact that they say HD makes great bikes:confused: has ensured I will never subsribe to them.

    KC-10 FE out...

I actually have sub to cycle world, but only because it was the $1 per issue deal. I have been thinking about getting motorcyclist, but my problem is this. I ride an older bike, the info there just isn't that relavant to me. I can use the internet to read the most current and/or old stuff about bikes that I am interested in. Anyway, that makes me think that new subscriptions are just more fodder for the recycling can for me.

    my subs are...

I have to weigh in on this thread,

"Cycle Canada", my favorite it is what the old Cycle used to be.

"Road Rider" magazine, great pictures and a good amount of travel info
but when the subscription runs out its done, I don't
    get out as much anymore.

"BMWMOA News", I will get an airhead again one day!

I've read the rest over the years and most of the California based magazines are for the kids, "Rider" is not the magazine it was in the early eighties, and oh yeah, I guess I'm older too!

The orginal touring magazine was "Rode Rider", edited by a crusty old salt one Roger Hull, it was the best!

As a regular train commuter bike mag junky I Religiously get UK Mags BiKE & T.W.O as they are well written with a good review style and seem to get my moneys worth in that I read them cover to cover with a low ad ratio.

Will If the UK mags RiDE, Superbike and Performance Bike have a couple of good articles will get these also. Same with Aussie mags Two Wheels & Motorcycle news.

Rarely get US Mags due to there cost being similar to the UK mags with less bike content and more ad's but if there is an exceptional article will still spring for the odd one.

I subscribe to Motorcyclist, it seems to have less ads than CycleWorld. I grab the UK mag "Bike" when I can too, but it's pretty rare to find.

The December '06 PB magazine has an article about the European Cannonball Run. Eight countries in four days; 182mph on a ZZR1400, gotta love it! The illegality of the whole race aside, an excellent read.

the Brit rag "Bike" is the best i've found ... you can find it in good book stores ... Borders, Barnes & Noble, Books a Million, etc.

I have a sub to Cycle World because it's so cheap and hard to pass up. I like the broad scope of their articles and it's good bathroom reading basically. I like how they will review an American, Japanese, Italian, British, German or whatever bike and are usually something I could realistically afford. They don't really discriminate like other rags do. The comparos are good too. I still like to look at most of the other bike mags when I go to the store, but would not get subs to them. For example I like looking at the chopper, V-twin, or custom sportbike mags, but any bike over $25,000 is not realistic - they're rich playboy toys/trophies.
