is there any chemical i can use to strip the paint off my plastics without melting or warping them? too many curved surfaces for me to try and sand them all by hand.

you can use spray paint stripper (from auto parts store - not the aircraft kind) but you will still have to work very fast, wash thoroghly with water and still have do a TON of sanding and I would advise against it unless you are doing tank/metal parts. A firm scuff all over with one of those sanding sponges @ 240 grit and cleanup with 320 grit should do the trick. It's a total PITA, but well worth it.

the paint stripper will leave a residue that will need to be sanded flat - your call - but whatever you do, don't leave it on for more than 15 mins at a time.

why sand your panels all the way down? knock them flat with some 80/120 grit da paper then smooth everything out with 240/320 and paint. and i agree with betarace, chemical strippers will turn into a nightmare if you use them on plastic. ive never heard of trackwraps, i wonder how long that vinyl holds up, its a neat idea

i think im pretty set on the carbon fiber now theres some dents and scratches i have to take care of that my dad put in there when he tipped it over and the old paint is starting to crack up pretty good. just debating on whether to go with blue carbon fiber, or normal cf and use a blue dye in the epoxy.
