Hi all, if you've read any of my recent posts in this forum you'll know I've been having some slight trouble getting my bike to fire up. Right now, I'm in pursuit of replacing the spark plug wires. A friend of mine, unlike me very experienced with motorcycles, suggested I look at the intake. He said look at the hose & rubber... Can anyone here please enlighten me to what he was talking about?!! The airbox & air filter? The carb intakes?!! What entails my bike's intake system?!!! Thanks...

He's probably refering to carb insulator boots, vacuum lines, the air filter(plugged), and air intake (blocked)

whoa, whoa who... vacuum lineS? Plural? I know the vacuum line that goes from the petcock to the rear left head, were there other vacuum lines? If I'd have known there was so much about vacuums with this bike, I'd have given it to my wife!!! HA! Anyway... what other vacuum lines are there? The carb insulator boots are brand new, good seal... I know how to get to the air filter, looked brand new when I saw it while I took the carbs out last winter... Air intake, is that the scoop on the top of the air box? It isn't plugged, is there another air intake I don't know about? Thanks very much for the quick reply!

sounds like you have it pretty well covered. My '85 Cali model had another vacuum line coming off #1 I think for the carbon canister system.
