Guys, I'm getting tired of my VFR. I think it's because the 1200 is around now. Asked the dealer about a trade in, and he basically offered me a joke of a deal. So I started wondering what I could do to make my VFR feel new again. Here's what I came up with:
    1) Helibars up front so that I sit more upright. Definitely more comfortable.
    2) That's it.
    3) Anyone got any ideas? Really don't want to throw my money away on a new bike when I've got this great one at home.
How about dropping the fairing and going naked, as in that Craigslist ad?? Hah hah!!

Don't know where you are with your riding skills, but taking a course to challenge your abilities? For me, the bike is still waaaaay more capable than the rider!

Man I cant open the wallet without thinking of motorcycle related things to buy.
How about an older 400 -600 rr for track days or courses? Or for the 800, New suspension, braided brake lines and wave rotors, new exhausts, motad headers, power commander V,
new paint job, fenderectomy, rear hugger, the list goes on... its a world of options, dont lets start talking about toro chargers or new pain jobs....mmmmmmm
    Good luck

I agreee with the above; take some training like California Superbike School or do a track day.

    Upgrade yourself!

+1 - the VFR is better than 95% of the riders who use one. Upgrade the weakest piece of equipment on the bike - the rider!

I don't know if you have a stock seat or not, but I suggest an after market. Sport and touring riders alike have comment how much better the bike feels. I was perfectly happy with my stock seat...UNTIL I bought a Sargent.
I have been toying with getting a gps or a radar detector(should be about the same price as the ticket I just paid).

Not sure what mods you may have already done to the bike so it is kinda hard to speculate. On the other hand, the two best mods I have ever done are exhaust related and switching to tapered head bearings. Love the sound of that V4!! Let it breath man!

If you want to do any track days you should take an advance riding school first as it will prepare you better and you will have a much better time. I took a two day Star School with Jason Pridemore and then joined NESBA and SBTT. Almost stopped street riding cause I was having so much fun on the track!

I'm all for the mods, especially on a 6 gen. But I have to agree, "upgrading yourself" is a mod that is unrivaled. Other than that, gearing and exhaust in conjunction with a power commander and a dyno tune will transform your '08 into something completely differant than you're accustomed to, for the better in every respect.

Can't believe no one has suggested the torocharger. That would definitely change your bike up and make it more exciting than you should ever need. Will cost less than that 7th gen you were thinking about as well.

Of course riding with a bunch of new VFR buddies couldn't hurt. Actually, any group activities really help re-engage me.

I have a 5th gen but here is my thoughts...my bike had already had the exhaust changed and a suspension upgrade when I got it so I don't know where those would rank against the stock set up BUT I can say that when I changed the rear sprocket ratio I noticed a big differance. Like others have said in differant posts, it made the bike "seam to come alive". I did add a corbin seat but I would highly recommend upgrading the chain and sprockets first......

I ain't tired of your VFR, I'll even come take her off your hands for ya if you like..................Seriously though, there's nearly unlimited mods to do, what more do you want from a nearly perfect machine outta the box man????

Definate +1 to the upgrading the rider like everyone else said. I don't care how good you are, you can allways get better.

Sargent seat, Heli bars and lowering peg blocks (if your 5'10 and above) shorty levers, -1 +2 sprocket and 525 chain, high mount exhaust, PCIII, GPS, new Michelin tires, Harris grips, cruise control throttle lock, leds in the dash, speedo healer, BMC filter, peel all the emissions stuff off. That's about all I can think of. Its your money, I am just trying to help you spend it.

I'd be tired of my bike too if I hadn't started customizing to my tastes. You're bound to be bored with ANY bike no matter what it is or who makes it if it stays stock.

Doing the exhaust will add a new spin to the bike that you are sure to enjoy. Headers, a slip on, power commander, and dyno tune will totally change the bike. Make sure to kill the evap can and PAIR valves as well. The engine becomes silky smooth and plenty more power is added for anything you want to do on the street.

Heli-bars, grips, and a Sargeant set will bring new life into the comfort area of the VFR and you won't want to get off it nearly as often. Some also highly suggest a new windscreen and doing some things to the pegs. Sato makes some replacement rearsets or you can go with the BLS peg lowering blocks or Buell pegs.

Reworking the suspension will add to your confidence in the bike no matter what you throw at it. Racetech internals in the front forks and a penske/ohlins rear shock will do the trick. If you really want to get fancy you can add a steering dampner as well.

Of course all this new power and suspension wouldn't be complete without better braking. New steel braided brake lines would be in order as well as pads to match.

There are quite a few things you can do for aesthetics. Plenty of carbon fiber bits can be added such as a hugger, dash cover, triple tree cover, tank cover. Many existing parts can be powder coated for personal tastes. Perhaps even a bug buster too and blue LED dash.

Want to go a little more extreme? De-link the brakes and replace the front end with an RC-51 triple and Ohlins forks.

Want even more? A&A Performance is in the process of the 6th gen supercharger kit. You could even couple that with the TTS/Dynamo Humm big bore kit.....

Almost forgot about the 8-spoke rear wheel from the 3rd gen. It sure is pretty.
