    Hi everyone...

I'm looking at a very clean 2006 VFR with 12500 miles on it. The bike looks in great condition but, having ridden Harley's for a while, I'm not at all familiar with the VFR powerplant.

Should the 12500 miles be a concern? What engine issues should I look for?

Welcome aboard! 12500 miles is nothing to the vfr. I have a '93 with 64k miles and not an issue with the engine.

There have been many examples of the VFR's going over 100k. I seem to recall a guy in I think England that was a courier of some sort that had over 400k on his.

I bought my 2002 with 20998 miles and don't feel bad at all about my purchase.

My 03' had 21K and change when I got her, no problems. V-4's pretty solid to go with the rest of the bike, grab it and ride man!! :welcome:

Hello and welcome to the forum. Wherebouts you located?

Oh, and 12500 miles is barely broken in! I have over 52k on my 98 and she is running strong.

If the price is right, buy it. I have an 06 closing in on 58,000 miles and will be riding from BC down to central CA late May and have absolutely no reservations....about the bike anyways. The people I meet there ? Now I dunno.

I picked mine up with 15k on the clock almost 11 months ago. I'm getting ready to break 24k on her and she's flying right along. It will last forever so long as you change her fluids.

So I just called the dealership and they want $6400.00 hard earned USD for the VFR. That sounds a bit pricey to me. Thanks to everyone's input, I'm certain the mileage is not a problem, but 6400 bucks was more than I was expecting.

Is that a fair price or not?

Keep looking and grab a ride on one if you can so you know why we are all obsessed. There are some great deals out there if you are willing to hunt and travel a bit. On the other hand there are a few folks and dealers who are smoking crack! Oh well cars are no different, just keep looking.

As far as the mileage is concerned, I was tracking my 91 vfr with 26,000 + on the clock and it was fifteen years old. I swear I rode the living shit out of that bike and it didn't even flinch. I sold it to a fella who is still enjoying the bike today. Bomb proof!

I just bought an 03 with 28K miles on her, no issues whatsoever. I also have a Yamaha FZ1 with 41K, no issues. Jap bikes laugh at Harleys.

Here are a couple that may give you some negotiating leverage at the dealership. The '07 for $7600 is due it's being RWB. Which isn't any more rare than it's '07 brother in red (right behind the RWB in the photo), which has been going for $6995. What dealership are you talking to? I know a few guys around town that may be able to get something done for you, if they have stock.

I'd move on down the road with that price. I picked up my 04 last year with 15k on the clock for $5300. I'd have gotten it for less but he just had the 16k mile service done which was around $750.... Everything was good to go and I had paperwork to verify so I wasn't complaining one bit. Check Ebay and Craigslist and you will find much much better for less.

I'm looking at a 2002 with 8k on it for $3700. I think it is great value but I'll let you know Tuesday. I don't think you will get any deals at a dealer and to think that you will get better service is a pipe dream so why bother? Oh crap now I'm dealer bashing:eek:

I better go sit in the corner for a bit and think about beavers. That's our national animal don't ya know...

The 6th Gen VFR is pretty much 2002 technology. Why pay top dollar in 2010 for a new leftover '07 or newer? Find yourself a used VFR that has been well maintained with records to prove it. Craigslist and Ebay, many listings, low prices, you command the price!

Met a guy last weekend with 160,000 miles on a 99 VFR and it still ran strong. Doesn't burn oil, etc. 12k is nothing my friend.

And yeah... $6400 is too much for that bike.

I bough my 07 RWB from the dealer on the second link about a week ago, went down to Cherry Hill spoke to Tim Yowe and rode out with a zero miles 07 RWB Interceptor.
Those guys were great and had no issues what so ever.

I would hardly call $7000 for a zero mile VFR with factory warrantee a top dollar transaction. I and a thousand other people only wish we knew this rebate was going to happen before we made our purchase. I was simply pointing out that if new bikes are going for that amount, how does that price affect the cost on all of the used examples that are out there.

Must have deppressed the value, I paid $1500.00 for an 18,000 mile 1999 on Dec 7th '09. Best $1500.00 I ever spent! New tires, all new fluids, and a bodywork removal clean up, I'm on MY way to 160,000 miles!
