I am looking for a simple way to mount a radar detector without much or any drilling. Any suggestions?

There's Velcro and there's Velcro and there's Velcro knockoffs by 3M and probably by now some crap that looks like Velcro and sticks like cup grease.

I'd be a little wary of attaching a radar detector to your dash and covering up the instrumentation with an object that is roughly the size of a couple of playing cards.

Avoid as best you can the WalMart level Velcro and go with a marine grade. More bucks but it will hold a radio to a steel bulkhead on a commercial fishing boat. ( I know you have those in Arkansas) ;) Maybe a bass boat and rack of Bud?

The electronics whizzes may find some potential interference problems with the dash mount theory as well on bikes with non-analog instrumentation.

The input is directional so IMO the detector should be in the facing foward position. Mine sits on my tank bag, held in place with the marine grade Velcro. Same deal on my car. A strip of the same Velcro on top of the dash.

Some detectors have a speaker that some how is supposed to be stuffed inside one's helmet. A little trick is to ditch that rig and use the output jack to drive an LED, stuck to the inside of your windscreen with a suction cup. Parts from Radio Shack and most of the big box hardware stores will work.

Don't use Velcro. Use the plastic-to-plastic stuff like you mount an EZ-Pass with to your inside windshield on your cage. This stuff holds without worry of losing whatever it is you mounted with it.

I have not done this personally however my plans in the future are to mount one behind one of the fairings. I have read many different articles concerning this and all of them say that the thin ABS plastic of the fairing has a negligible effect on the performance of the radar detector as long as there aren't any metal parts blocking it. The bad thing about this is that it DOES negate all laser detecting capabilities of the radar detector. However laser picks you up and has your speed before you can react at least 95% of the time so knowing that someone is using laser around you simply just tells you to get ready to stop if you were speeding... not slow down because you are about to get clocked. In this case you just use a laser jammer in conjunction with the radar detector :)

I plan on using all of this in conjunction iwth one of these: Radar Detector Visual Alert for Motorcycles

And hopefully I will have a headset that will pair to multiple devices via bluetooth (Scala Rider) and will have audio from the radar detector as well

    Another vote for techmounts!

The clear plastic map pocket on the top of a tankbag is useful. Just slip the detector in there and it will pick up radar. Not the ideal solution though!!

I run an Escort Solo 2, hard wired for power, inside my fairing, on the left side. It is held in place with 3M Dual Lock. I use a radar screamer for the alert.
This set up has proven it's self. Rain or shine, no problems, or tickets.
I am torn down, replacing chain and sprockets if you would like to see some pics-

Had never heard of a Radar Screamer before your post. Thanks for the heads up.
