    Hi everyone.
I have owned both 3rd and 4th gen VFR's but now I have a dilemma. I am looking at purchasing a new to me VFR for sport and sport touring riding and I am looking at both 5th and 6th gen bikes. I fully get and understand the Vtec vs non Vtec engine but I would like to hear about is ergo's and weather protection. Am I correct in thinking the 5th gen bikes are a bit more sporty in seating position while 6th gen bikes are a bit more tour or am I off the mark? I would love to hear from you folks who have or had both the 5th and 6th gen bikes.

I had the same problem ( I just posted but it never came up )so again.
I looked at a 5th gen and 6th gen. Both great bikes, ergos pretty much the same.
the 5th gen a bit better at low speed then the 6th gen.
either way you can go wrong, they are both great bike that will do what you ask of them..
enjoy and let us know what one you pick.

Ive ridden all 3 of them and have owned a 4th and a 5th. I think the ergos are very close other than I would say from the 4th gen, the 5th gen bars are about a bar diameter higher and then the 6th gen, the bars are about another bar diameter higher from the 5th. Really not that different but subtle. - I stuck 4th bars on my 5th. --- Then wind protection for all 3 is a wash. Tune to suit with aftermarket windshields.
    Good luck

    I've ridden both

ergos & seat position are almost exactly the same.

the 5th gen "feels" a bit lighter... but only a bit

Do you think the 5th gen bike is actually lighter or perhaps the 6th gen has a higher center of gravity, making it feel heavier?
I'm looking at a 6th gen at the moment after having two 5th gen bikes and a couplel of 3rd gen bikes. I have never thrown a leg over a sixth generation machine so I'm a bit hesitant. The looks do grow on you, don't they!

I'v flying to Dallas to look at one next week, so fingers crossed that it is all the seller says!
