Actually how many here actually plan out a meal of sorts, you know if you really want to be the best you can be, which would be a good idea, you need to eat the right foods. So question is, what do you eat before you ride and do you look for a special place once out on the road?
I do a modified version of the old west meal for road food, jerky (beef or vension) dried fruit, nuts & bottled water. When we camp for the night generally steak, potatoes & beer of course from a local grocery cooked over a fire. Or a local VFW, Lions, or Elks club feed is always a good find for a reasonable hearty meal. Breakfast is usually never really planned because depending on the amount of barley pop consumed no ones really interested eating right away. We do our best to avoid fast food, because your never quite sure what it will do to you the next day.
When traveling, unless there is a special place I'm heading, I always stop at a grocery store and get fresh veggies, fruit, etc, meat or salads at the deli ... also buy stuff for breakfast and lunch. The only planned stops are at all the espresso stands I encounter ...
I'll actually plan local rides around my favorite restaurants. When not local, I usually play it by ear. KC-10 FE out... lane:
I'll have some bacon and eggs for breakfast, toss a few granola bars and a bottle of water in my tank bag, and hit a McDonalds or Jack In The Box along the way.
I don't actually put too much thought in it usually. There are so many restaurants out here that I know if I get hungry, I can just stop. I usually try to eat something fattening for breakfast because it lasts longer.
You guys eat a lot healthier than me, maybe that's why I'm on this winter work out/low carb diet that has me getting ready for the spring riding season, 17 pounds so far and I actually benched 300lbs for the first time in 10 years eace: My eating habits have been terrible on the rides, but never again!!! I don't want to have to go through what I'm going through right now ever again, I'm already tired of meat, fish and chicken...
I like to eat the local fare. That's what makes traveling a little fun. But, water and some jerky or something else to snack on is always good too. The fast food gets me sometimes, but at least you don't have to worry about stinking up the passengers! LOL
 Keep up the good work! Remember, fewer pounds mean more horsepower! And that would go for you and the bike .....300lbs ???? you must be a big boy ....
I normally eat at some restaurant along the way ( like Denny's, Whitespot, ABC ) I try to eat a normal meal and not eat junky. I normally take some bottled water with some nuts, beef jerky or fruit as snack food.
If you are going long distance riding, it makes sense to try to eat healthier. Especially any meal you will be riding afterwards. And try to not overeat if you have more riding to do; stop before you are stuffed. If you eat till you are stuffed, it tends to make you a little groggy afterwards, as blood from your brain is directed towards your stomach to process the food. I normally eat a pretty crappy diet, but I find trying to eat healthy on longer rides, also leaves me more alert, feeling better, and feeling more refreshed. Lots of Caffine can also be a no-no, you get the short term high, but when you "come down" on the other side, it usually leaves most people more tired than if they have never touched it. It is especially dangerous in high heat situations, as it dehydrates you instead of hydrating you. If I am on a day ride, I usually eat the same crap I normally do, and just stop for a burger and fries.
that is my ride to go somewhere and eat where i never ate before where i try a new food where i try something that only that bbq place or greasy spoon makes .. did i say where enough?
I always aim for a local biker joint when I'm riding. In Arrowhead, there's a lovely burger joint right on the water called Woody's. In El Cariso village off Ortega Highway, I frequent Hell's Kitchen cuz their burgers rock. Pretty much anywhere I go, I try to locate a place with good, semi-cheap food
Variety is the spice of life. I'll eat almost anywhere. Depends on what's around when I get hungry. Speaking of which it's dinner time. Bye:bolt:
